I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I am glad we all are back in one accord despite this global pandemic.

Now, talking about my topic; Sleep apnea is an involuntary cessation of breathing that occurs while the patient is asleep.

It is also a sleeping disorder which occurs when the airway or nasal becomes continually blocked during sleep, there reducing or completely stopping airflow.

Sleep apnea may be caused by a person’s body structure or medical conditions. These includes; obesity, endocrine disorders or even heart or kidney failure.

Sleep apnea is characterized by a reduced or an absence of breathing, frequent loud snoring or gasping for air while sleeping.

It can cause excessive daytime sleep, fatigue, dry mouth or headache when awake and waking up at night several times to urinate.

Now, undiagnosed sleep apnea may lead to serious complications like heart attack, cancer, cognitive and behavioral disorders.

If you have any concerns that you have been experiencing sleep apnea, please consult your doctor and he will go through your medical history and recommend a change in lifestyle.

This might include; eating a heart-healthy diet, aiming at a healthy weight and avoiding smoking and alcohol in any form.

Maintaining healthy lifestyle can decrease or prevent the incidence of sleep apnea.

The Lord keep you healthy!!!
