Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi guardia médica del día de ayer, la cual realice en el área de Respiratorio en el Principal Centro Centinela de la Ciudad de Carora; así le llaman acá en Venezuela a los hospitales y centros de salud donde se atienden e ingresan a pacientes críticos por Covid-19.
Today I want to share with you my medical guard from yesterday, which I carried out in the Respiratory area at the Main Sentinel Center of the City of Carora; This is what they call here in Venezuela the hospitals and health centers where critical patients from Covid-19 are treated and admitted.
En el Estado Lara, son pocos los centros centinelas existentes y estos no cuentan con la cantidad de camas necesarias para atender a toda la comunidad con Covid-19; por esta razón siempre están colapsados.
In Lara State, there are few existing sentinel centers and they do not have the number of beds necessary to serve the entire community with Covid-19; for this reason they are always collapsed.
Ayer particularmente el centro se encontraba colapsado, no contábamos con la cantidad de pruebas necesarias para realizar a los pacientes que acudían y es muy triste ver el escenario de muchos pacientes que llegan en mal estado de salud, disneicos, con saturación de oxigeno por debajo de 90 y vernos en la penosa necesidad de decirles a sus familiares que no tenemos camas disponibles para atenderlos, los cuales deben regresar a sus casas llenos de impotencia, rabia y mucho dolor al ver morir a un ser querido sin tener como asistirlos, ya que el oxígeno es bastante costoso y difícil de encontrar en nuestra ciudad, y en esas condiciones críticas una bombona solo alcanza entre 3 a 6 horas.
Yesterday, in particular, the center was collapsed, we did not have the amount of tests necessary to perform the patients who attended and it is very sad to see the scenario of many patients who arrive in poor health, dyspnoea, with oxygen saturation below 90 and see us in the painful need to tell their relatives that we do not have beds available to care for them, which must return home full of helplessness, anger and much pain when seeing a loved one die without having to assist them, since the Oxygen is quite expensive and difficult to find in our city, and in these critical conditions a cylinder only lasts between 3 to 6 hours.
Para nadie es un secreto la dura situación económica que están atravesando muchas familias venezolanas y muchas veces no tienen siquiera para comer y menos aún para costear la medicación a un familiar con Covid-19, en muchas ocasiones vemos por los estados de WhatsApp rodando cadenas para ayudar a personas a costear los medicamentos y el oxígeno, el corazón se pone arrugadito (como decimos los venezolanos) y no le deseo a nadie que pase por esto, porque he visto lo difícil que es.
The tough economic situation that many Venezuelan families are going through is no secret to anyone and many times they do not even have enough to eat and even less to pay for medication for a relative with Covid-19, on many occasions we see WhatsApp states rolling chains to help people to pay for medications and oxygen, the heart gets wrinkled (as Venezuelans say) and I do not wish anyone to go through this, because I have seen how difficult it is.
Es duro ver como esta enfermedad se salió de nuestras manos y de las manos de las autoridades pertinentes, el sistema de vacunación ha sido muy lento; es allí donde me pregunto porque no toman cartas en el asunto y habilitan más centros centinelas, envían más insumos médicos y estimulan al recurso humano, llámese médicos, enfermeras y personal obrero en general ya que cada vez son menos porque muchos han emigrado a otros países o simplemente se han dedicado a realizar otra actividad que genere mejores ingresos.
It is hard to see how this disease got out of our hands and out of the hands of the relevant authorities, the vaccination system has been very slow; It is there that I wonder why they do not take action on the matter and enable more sentinel centers, send more medical supplies and stimulate human resources, call themselves doctors, nurses and workers in general since there are fewer and fewer because many have emigrated to other countries or they have simply engaged in another activity that generates better income.
Cada vez es más difícil llegar a casa luego de una guardia porque crece mi preocupación por el bienestar de mi familia, mis amigos, mi comunidad, mi país, por el mundo entero y pido a Dios porque esta pandemia cese y podamos vivir sanos y tranquilos nuevamente.
It is increasingly difficult to get home after a watch because my concern grows for the well-being of my family, my friends, my community, my country, the whole world and I pray to God that this pandemic stops and we can live healthy and calm again.
Les recuerdo usen el tapabocas, mantengan distancia, lava tus manos frecuentemente, cuida de ti y de esta forma estarás cuidando de todos y ayudando a acabar con este virus.
I remind you to wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands frequently, take care of yourself and in this way you will be taking care of everyone and helping to end this virus.
