All my life on earth I never for a month thought of how it feels like when a baby is newly born. This is because we all get distracted by the smiles of the people around the baby because they are happy for a safe delivery, be it the mother, the doctor, nurse and everybody in the room. We neglect how the baby feels outside the womb.

A baby’s cry actually indicates that the baby’s lungs are healthy. Have you ever thought of the fact that when a baby cries, it’s because they just got into a new environment that their system is not used to and it’s about to adapt to it? Their lungs get exposed cold air which is different to what they are used to in the womb so that makes them cry out. This cry therefore expands their lungs and expels amniotic fluid and mucus.

Most times their cry could be that they are bruised and sore from the trauma of birth. This whole process is really exhausting for them so they tend to sleep for the next 8 hours or so.
