Most of us have the impression that opposites attract, but make no mistake, this is only true in physics where magnets are attracted and there is also electrostatic interaction between electrically charged particles. But for the laws of the universe, the opposite is true: the equal attracts the equal. In its simplest form, this means that if you learn to harness the power of positive thinking, you will attract more positive circumstances.
However, if you are negative, you attract more negativity and pain. At first glance, you may think that this is the same as Karma, but in fact, the two concepts are very different.
Karma works differently from positive thinking. It is more or less: For every action, there is a reaction of equivalent strength in the opposite direction, that is, if you do "good", you will be rewarded with good things and if you are "bad", you will be punished with bad things.
With the law of attraction, however, the blessings are entirely yours and depend only on your positive thinking and positive mental attitude.
Think positively and you will call positive things to yourself. But when I say think positively, it doesn't mean you cheat your mind or keep thinking “I'm going to win the lottery, I'm going to win the lottery”, far from it, because your brain identifies that this is a lie
If you have a cynical, insecure, or pessimistic worldview, your negativity will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. But if you see the good side of things, but without fooling your brain, you will surely attract better things to your day-to-day.
Nothing better than an example to illustrate the power of positive thinking. The following story illustrates how it works.
José was unemployed and applied for a job, but he did not believe he would succeed, since his self-esteem was low and he considered himself a failure because he had been unemployed for so long.
He had negative thoughts that popped into his mind and believed that the other candidates were better and more qualified than he was.
With the lack of positive thinking, José's mind was occupied with thoughts and fears about the job vacancy, and throughout the week prior to the job interview, his mind was only focused on bad things, anxiety, and worries. In fact, he anticipated failure in his mind.
On the day of the interview, as he was anxious and spent the whole week thinking about the problems, he ended up waking up late, and to make matters worse, he ended up soiling the shirt he was going to wear and the other shirt he had to be ironed. As it was too late, he left wearing a wrinkled shirt and without having breakfast.
During the interview, he was tense, nervous, negative, hungry and worried about what the interviewers would think about his relaxation with the shirt. All of this distracted his mind and made it difficult to focus on the interview. His general behavior made a bad impression and consequently, he materialized his fear and did not get the job.
Why is it so difficult to think positively during problems?
Human beings have a predisposition for negativity. We pay much more attention to dark emotions, such as anger, sadness, pain and disappointment than to great feelings such as joy, gratitude, love, and contentment.
It makes sense when you think about how bad news stays with us, but the good news tends to be forgotten. It is like when you receive bad service from a professional, you complain in the 4 corners of the internet. But what about when someone does a great service for you, do you also advertise with the same strength of will?
Or else, the image of a beautiful newborn child laughing out loud in the morning will be forgotten in the afternoon, but the image of a violent crime he received on his whatsapp, can haunt us for years and trigger various negative thoughts.
Believe it or not, there is science behind it. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the nervous system to change, adapt and shape itself at a structural level depending on the circumstances of our life.
What is even more intriguing is that, if thoughts are repetitive, our brain will connect synapses that were not previously stimulated to associate those thoughts with other behaviors and turn them into habits.
For example, if you hate your job and work in a coffee shop, over time you will find that you despise the smell of coffee. In fact, you don't know - but your brain has decided that because you are constantly upset when you are surrounded by the smell of a cold drink, the drink itself must be the problem.
In that case, your neurons that light up from the smell of coffee connect to the neurons that light up when you are depressed. From then on, the smell of coffee will dampen your spirit.
Have you noticed how we feel a perfume that we no longer use and soon comes several memories of a time?
Negativity is addictive, although positivity is much more pleasant to feel.
We spend very little time enjoying our joy and being happy. Pain is also something we train to feel. We are addicted to this, however, as in any addiction, it can be overcome and what we must do is something very simple: it is to make the choice to be happy, to appreciate the good things in life and to have positive thinking.
Choose to be happy!
How to develop positive thinking
Meditate
Meditation rejuvenates the mind, makes us more resilient and frees the body from harmful chemicals that cause stress and anxiety; it helps us to think positively and look at the bright side of life. Make it a habit and many connections that negative thinking will be broken
###Gratitude
Numerous studies have proven that gratitude makes us happier and helps us in positive thinking, as they eliminate negativity. Gratitude invokes the law of attraction. Remember that positive thinking attracts positive things in your life. If you strive to give thanks, you will find that you will be blessed with more things for which you are thinking.
###Be kind
Kindness generates kindness, which generates gratitude on the part of those who receive the act, which generates great positive thoughts and this spreads to others. Be kind wherever you go.
Take time for yourself
Take time for yourself to take care of your health and reflect if your life is not on autopilot or how close you are to your dreams. Choose to take care of yourself spiritually and mentally, because no one else can do it for you.
Worry less
It's like that song called Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd "Troubles will come, and they will pass". Stress is usually the only cause of everything that goes wrong in our lives and pull us into negative thoughts just like an anchor on the high seas. If you work too hard, you will not be healthy. If you sleep too little, you will be exhausted. And if you neglect your family or friends, you will feel lonely.
Do exercises
Practice exercise, a run or walk. This helps to control anxiety and focus your thoughts on things that really need attention.
Practice mindfulness
Set aside 3 or 5 minutes a day and practice mindfulness. Do some relaxation, meditation or yoga, but take the time to calm your mind. You can increase the time as you practice.
I hope it made your day a little better.
