I have already mentioned several times that nutrition has a very strong influence on our female health and the 'correct functioning' of our menstrual cycle. But I think it is important to delve a little deeper into the subject, to know the different changes that can occur with food and also, the benefits they can offer at the time of our cycle. As I have almost always indicated in my informative posts, most of the information I express here is based on my own experience and also on experiences shared among my circle of women, so it is always important to take precautions when carrying out something.
We already understand that a good diet is what gives us almost perfect health and I say almost, because there really is nothing perfect. However, our diet will influence in the improvement or deterioration of different health conditions and in turn, in our physical performance. Changing our diet is essential for our own gear to start working properly, but the biggest warning is not to have problems with food.
Food is just that, food, there is nothing extremely serious about it, having fear or problems with it is what can lead us to possible binge eating due to anxiety, bulimia, obsession. Therefore, we must see it for what it is and we must learn to have a conscious eating, with this I mean that you should eat when the body really needs it (remember that the feeling of thirst can be confused with hunger) and you should eat to satiety, be present in the moment.
We must begin to recognize hunger when it is really there and at the same time, we must recognize when our body is completely satiated, that is, when we must stop eating. This is only achieved by having full attention at mealtime, having so many stimulants that keep us distracted is what can sometimes cause you to eat a whole pizza, because you are not really realizing the action you are carrying out, you just do it automatically.
Once we have all this information as a possible appetizer, we already know that good nutrition helps our menstrual cycle to flow in the right way, that the process is pleasant, painless and also, food is the battery of our body, just as breathing is the gasoline. So, what foods can I eat during my menstrual cycle that would be a potential benefit to my menstrual cycle? Excellent question.
Your body never stays the same and that is good, because it is an indicative sign in case of different conditions, but at the time of your menstrual period your body always tends to express more abrupt changes, as is the issue of inflammation or swelling in different areas (belly, breasts) plus you can get to have a little more sensitivity in the skin. Therefore, for these changes that generate inflammation turmeric is the key, as it has beneficial anti-inflammatory properties. You can prepare your lunches by adding a little turmeric between the dressings.
In addition to this, ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties and, if you do not want to add it to meals because of its strong flavor, you can take it as an infusion, in addition, ginger helps maintain a warm temperature in the body.
If you are a lover of always eating a snack during your days, nuts can be an excellent choice, they are rich in good fats for our body, plus they provide B vitamins (these help regulate the nervous system) and vitamin E, which is an antioxidant.
The seeds also provide almost the same values of nuts, rich in polyunsaturated acid fats. To relieve premenstrual tension, yogurt can be your best friend, since it prevents cramps during the cycle.
Although from experience I know that the body tends to ask for a lot of sweets and junk food during these days, the important thing is to maintain a conscious diet. I'm not telling you to cut these foods out of your diet if that is something you don't want to do, but to reduce their consumption and replace them with more fruits, seeds, vegetables and vegetable protein would be an excellent option. Making an eating plan doesn't really cost anything and healthy food is not at all 'boring' in fact, it brings a lot more variety of flavors because of the large amount of foods that can be used in them.
Don't eat for the sake of eating, eat consciously and listen to your body.
We will meet again, Daniela. xx
On this occasion I would like to award 5% beneficiary to @chacald.dcymt who teaches us just an excellent snack recipe made with pumpkin seeds.
