Hello everyone. Good day and welcome to my blog at this hour. It's with a heart full of love and happiness that I write for you all. Errick McAdams, a fitness enthusiast and personal trainer once said “If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food.” But, the question is - Is good food affordable in the market these days? Sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.
The human body needs good food to work properly. Foods consists of nutrients that ensure the body system functions well. Protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fat and so on are required in certain quantities in the body to promote growth, stamina, energy and so on.
The health practitioners and fitness coaches always preach that prevention is better than cure. They let the public know that it is important to eat healthy and balanced diets early in order to maintain a sound health. You don't have to wait to a certain age before you start eating healthy, starting from younger age is advised.
But, does the economy of our countries give room for healthy living? How many people can afford to eat balanced meals daily?
Nigerians complain about the incessant increase in the cost of living in the country as food prices are doubling by the day. The price of a crate of egg was about 700 naira about two to three years ago, now it's doubled the price, some people sell at 1400 naira. , some at 1500 naira. The same thing can be said about other food items.
It will be quite difficult to eat healthy in a country where it is difficult to purchase food items at affordable prices. These days most people don't even think about eating healthy, the only thing on people's mind is to at least have something to put in their mouth not considering the health factors. You'd hear people say "na who don belleful dey choose wetin to chop", meaning it's the person that has a lot to eat that decides whether to eat this or that.
The high prices of food and unhealthy eating leads to a lot of people having disease and health conditions that could have been battled by vitamins in fruits or by protein in beans and fish but when these food items are not affordable for all it results in all sort of issues.
We hope there'd a turnaround in our economy so that food, clothing, shelter and so on would be affordable for all.
