My Birthday Dinner!
One of the neat things about living by the ocean, is it's bounty! Tonight, we had some Lobster, steamed, fresh steamed Corn On The Cob. Since i can't eat corn, I made myself a Baked Potato. The Lobster has some nice melted butter, wiht lemon wedges.
My oldest, she's not a fan of the lobsters, so, I grabbed 2 pounds (almost a kilo) of Steamed Mussels.
We also had a really nice, fresh salad with most everything (except the crumbled Feta Cheese), from my aunt's Garden. Lettuce, Arugula, Cucumber, Carrot, and of course, tons of Tomato!
Earlier today, my daughter found these three immature Horseshoe Crab (sp. Limulidae). They're 300 million years old, making them older than most known Dinosaurs!
The larger one is a bit bigger than a large palm. the other two are smaller and can comfortably fit in a palm. Interesting thing, these weird ugly creatures are collected, kept alive, and their blood (a deep deep blue) harvested! Blood research on them leads to discoveries on the immunoproperties. They can play a huge part in combating toxins.
The labs is not far from my home, and the crabs are returned to the sea, once they are healthy enough to head back on their own!
To the animals and birds around me
to put more plants in than I take out
And be a good steward for the world around me!
