The food is good. As a matter of fact, I love food and that’s why I take this subject very personally. Food is like fuel to our bodies, the nutritional composition of food supplies the necessary nutrients we need for growth and development, and it enhances the proper functioning of our cells, systems, and organs so we need to know what to eat and how to eat in the right proportion to our benefits. I will just state it precisely that we need food to live.

The fact that food is essential for body growth and development is common knowledge, but only a few people are in the know about the relationship between food and our mental health. The food we eat doesn’t only affect our physical health and well-being but also has a great effect on our mental health. The relationship between food and our mental health is a complex one and anyone who cares about living a healthy life should be deliberate about the choices of what to and what not to eat.

It’s very common to see people show so much interest in the direction of nutritional benefits and the positive effects of food in general which is good, but it is also important to know that some food could affect us negatively as well. These classes could include or constitute some of your favorite choice of meal. Lol. So you really need to pay keen attention. Eating is one of the ways to pass messages to the brain. Some foods can make you feel good, happy, and relaxed while some contain chemicals that could also have negative effects on the brain. In the latter part of this write-up, we will be going into full details.

While we are looking at this from the perspective of nutritional components, I will like to delve a bit into the negative effects due to poor eating habits. It’s not all cases of nutritional deficiency that is as a result of the incompatible components of a particular diet with our body system, some could also result from poor eating habits. So when considering the subject of nutrition, we need to give it a holistic approach.

In some cases, mental dysfunctions such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders can be traced to poor diet. Food and nutrition are that important, and improper dieting could lead to grave consequences that are avoidable if one does the needful. a workaholic friend of mine was telling me about how he had forgotten to eat throughout the whole day because he was engrossed in his work. This is very dangerous to anyone’s mental health and a threat to personal productivity in the long run.

Our eating habits could serve as major determinants that contribute to the frequency of visits to a doctor. We need to prioritize nutrition as much as we prioritize work because our bodies need a balanced diet to remain healthy and maximally productive.
