7 Health Benefits of Coconut Water

I can't help but wonder after researching the health benefits of coconut water. I have been consuming coconut in all its expressions for years: ice creams, Venezuelan cocadas, coconut snacks and much more. But coconut water has always been an ally in my physical activities.

In this post I will talk about 7 benefits of coconut water: ## Healthy heart and kidney
You may be wondering why I put heart and kidney in the same title. But, see how our organism is connected: The potassium found in coconut water is an extremely important nutrient for balancing the amount of salt and water excreted by the kidneys. Without potassium, the kidneys cannot eliminate sodium efficiently.   Excess sodium in the body, in turn, retains water and increases blood pressure, also known as hypertension. ## Rejuvenates and prevents cancer.
Coconut water contains cytokinins, which protect cells from aging and prevent cancer. >"Cytokinins are plant hormones responsible for cell division, so they act in the renewal of cells, ensuring young and healthy skin" In addition, it reduces the possibility of cancer cells arising due to rapid cell division (when the cell divides and gives rise to two identical cells, also known as mitosis). This process reminds me a lot of my time at university. Cell division is the process responsible for the replacement of dead cells, the regeneration of healthy body tissues, and the growth of the individual.

## Prevent dehydration
Because it has a large amount of mineral salts, mainly sodium and potassium, coconut water is a powerful moisturizer. > "Together, sodium and potassium work as a physiological solution capable of hydrating the body and removing impurities." ## Strengthens the immune system
Coconut water is rich in vitamin C and increases the production of white blood cells, cells that are part of the immune system and that have the function of fighting microorganisms and foreign structures in the body. The nutrient increases the levels of antibodies in the body. ## It has five essential minerals
Potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium and phosphorus, which are essential for the proper functioning of the body because they form a perfect combination. Coconut water contains potassium, which helps store glycogen (a combination of glucose molecules that provide immediate energy to the muscles). The high amount of potassium also prevents the appearance of muscle cramps and spasms. In addition, due to the electrolyte content, it helps to replace the minerals that are lost when we do some physical activity.
