#### Ah, such a powerful question! Personally, 'violence' for me was the tricky word - what exactly 'was' violence? It's so much more than a punch in the face or a shot from a gun. It's the removal of people's liberties. It's the overwriting of one culture onto another. It's sexual assault and it's gaslighting, and a million other atrocities - murder and human trafficking, racism, riots. It's hard to bear witness to the terrible things happening in the world on a day to day basis. But then, if we forgot what 'violence' we're talking about and concentrating on the 'healing' part, things got decidedly more hopeful.
> *Violence does not necessarily have to be manifested through physical aggression. To me, any act that seeks to guide someone into obeying a will that is not their own through any means other than comprehension and consciousness is violent. - @fenngen* > **Violence is an emotional response, and is fundamentally irrational, as it involves physically harming another person and potentially oneself, and creating a self-propagating cycle that if left unchecked can cause a lot of destruction. Violence is the expression of strong emotion that seemingly has no other outlet, so it reaches its conclusion in a violent outburst. - @dizzybee** For most, 'love' in some form is what heals violence - empathy, oneness, love, compassion - of ourselves and others. > ##### I know of the wounded child that lives in you >##### I know because it lives in me too - @fenngen > *Having the ability to love someone who hates you is not an easy task, and one person or the other needs to take the first step in good faith, in unconditional forgiveness, to create an empathic bond that is the cradle of a constructive relationship. Before we can love the other fully, we must be willing to forgive them, to be fully aware of the present moment, that unconditionally presents the opportunity of a blank slate in every passing moment, if we are willing to let go of our emotions, and take it. - @dizzybee*

Allowing myself to be loved and loving others continues to heal my scars. But ultimately learning to love myself for who I am and where I have come from, has healed me the most. I know that I am worthy, just as we all are, but for so long I felt the opposite and nothing that anyone said could convince me otherwise, that was something I had to rediscover on my own.So healing is also an act of rediscovery, bringing us back to reconnecting with the wild within. It is a cycle, as is the way with all things in life! - @trucklife-family**
### I found this challenge particularly difficult to judge. Every single response was so thoughtful and empathetic and I felt my heart swell with incredible love for the people who are trying their best to not only heal themselves, but heal the world through the actions they take to recover from violence. All the more remarkable were the stories of people who had suffered violence so badly themselves, yet still learnt to live from a place of love and compassion. In the end, I had to choose the most well written and original posts to recieve 10 HIVE each - @dizzybee and @drrune, congratulations. I also loved @fenngen's poetry, and @naineztengra, your post almost broke my heart - 5 HIVE each for you guys. I'm not even sure a bit of crypto really expresses how wonderful you all are and it kinda sucks to figure out who to give what!! @trucklifefamily, @artemislives, @fmb25 - I've set you three as 20 percent beneficiary each on this post.
