**Hi Hivers,** Welcome to my blog. This is @daniky. Hope you're having a wonderful moment wherever you are around the world. This article is the continuation of [my previous post](https://peakd.com/hive-196387/@daniky/health-and-lifestyle-common-unhealthy-eating-habits-and-lifestyles-to-be-avoided-1) on the "Common Unhealthy eating habits and lifestyles that should be avoided". It is no news that our body tends to adjust to whatever lifestyle we build.
[Photo by destiawan nur agustra from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-holding-iphone-while-eating-1034940/) Unhealthy lifestyle is born out of addiction to certain substances or ways that might not be favorable to health. When a person engages in activities that are detrimental to health; whether it's eating too much or too fast, skipping breakfast, drinking a little than required or too much or spending too many hours watching television, not exercising, smoking or eating unhealthy meals, and not maintaining a healthy weight, such a person is said to be displaying an unhealthy lifestyle. Exposure to chemicals at home, in the air, and in the food, eating more processed and fast foods than ever before, and constantly abusing your bodies with avoidable medicines are examples of an unhealthy lifestyle. Below, are more common unhealthy lifestyles which should be strictly avoided, not to jeopardize the proper functionality of your health. >### **7. Sedentary Life styles**
[Photo by Kha Ruxury from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/book-girl-indoors-lampshade-1294284/) To be sedent means to be within a place with little or no physical activity. This is When one remains in a certain place and he is not exercising which might slow down metabolism result to the gaining weight as the body start storing excess fat as glycogen.

At this point, the body is at risk of any sudden breakdown due to the accumulation of excess fat deposits which might result in high blood pressure and atherosclerosis or the formation of plague within the artery walls that pumps blood from the heart to the body.

So the more your activity the more better your wellbeing and lifestyle. >### **8. Lack of Adequate sleep.**
[source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/alone-bed-bedroom-blur-271897/) Sleeping too little can overwork your heart and can cause you to be more stressed. You can prevent cold, eye problem and heart disease by sleeping between seven and nine hours every night. >### **9. Smoking**
[Photo by Oleg Magni from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/man-wearing-gray-jacket-holding-cigarette-958946/) When you smoke, you deprive your heart and blood of oxygen, which is vital for your body to function. Smoking also ignites the growth of plaque in your arteries. As plaque builds, it can block your arteries which may cause a blood clot. If the clot is big enough, it can block blood flow through your artery. This results in a heart attack or stroke. So there's a great need to minimize the level you smoke or rather give it a final quite. >### **10. Drinking Alcohol.**
[Photo by ELEVATE from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/group-of-people-sitting-on-dining-table-1267321/) Drinking excessively or consistently over time hurts your heart. The AHA recommends not exceeding two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. The more alcohol you consume, the higher your risk is for increased blood pressure and stroke. >### **11. Eat junk food.**
[Photo by Trang Doan from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/assorted-sliced-fruits-in-white-ceramic-bowl-1092730/) When you are stressed, a burger or pizza may sound good at the time but it is important to know what these types of foods are doing to your body over time. These foods are high in sodium and fat, which the American Heart Association (AHA) recommends avoiding. Consider swapping out fast food for whole grains, lean meats, nuts, fruits and vegetables. This will really go along way in boosting your immune system thus promoting a healthy lifestyle. >### **12. Exercise less.**
[Photo by Agung Pandit Wiguna from Pexels](https://www.pexels.com/photo/man-standing-beside-his-wife-teaching-their-child-how-to-ride-bicycle-1128318/) Exercise does not only melts stress away but it also helps protect against heart disease by lowering blood pressure, strengthening the heart muscle and helps you maintain a healthy weight. It also releases mood-boosting chemicals called endorphins. This therefore shows how important exercise can help improve our wellbeing. *Hope you find this article helpful one way or the other.* **REFERENCES** 1.
