Matcha Smoothie

*A strawberry banana smoothie with the added benefits of matcha green tea. A delicious breakfast or snack!* When I wanted to try out the organic matcha, I knew exactly what I wanted to make with it. Smoothies, smoothie and more smoothies.

I know what you’re thinking- that this is the most beautifully coloured green smoothie you ever saw. Not. I blame the strawberries. So now we all know that a strawberry banana green tea smoothie will never look good (just in case you were all wondering). But I swear it tastes awesome as anything with strawberries and bananas in it usually does. Add in some green tea, vanilla and avocado for creaminess and you’ve got yourself a winner! In the process of experimenting with this matcha, I’ve come to a conclusion about green tea smoothies. They absolutely require a banana or additional sweetener. Bananas just elevate the flavour of this, at times, bitter ingredient and make it magically intriguing. Trust me on this. I have made enough mistakes for all of us on this! So why matcha? It’s loaded with antioxidants, specifically one called EGCg which is packed with cancer-fighting properties. It also contains caffeine but the perk you get is more steady than coffee and doesn’t make you jittery. Also- that green colour? Ya- that’s a ton of chlorophyll meaning it will help to naturally detoxify your body! This smoothie is loaded with nutrition from the other ingredients too- healthy fats from the avocado and chia seeds and vitamins and minerals in the bananas and strawberries. It’s also the perfect base to throw in your favourite greens, green powders or any other superfoods you might choose. Play around with it!

### Matcha Smoothie Recipe - 1 banana (frozen or not, may need more liquid if frozen) - handful frozen strawberries - ¼ avocado - 2 tsp matcha powder - 1 tbsp chia seeds - ½ tsp vanilla powder - ½ cup almond milk - handful of your favourite leafy greens or ¼ teaspoon greens powder - a couple cubes of ice if desired

You know the drill. Put all ingredients in blender. Blend. Add more liquid or ice to suit tastes. Sip. Enjoy!
