Hello, everybody! Javier here with your weekly edition of Mindful Life! The posts that I'll promote today all deal with a concept that I've been experiencing myself in great intensity of late: clarity, the capacity to see the world sharply and in detail, to just know and flow with that knowledge.
I see the world in terms of narratives, codes, blueprints and lenses. These perspectives allow me to understand reality as a series of layers of information that may at any moment synch with each other and influence us both externally and internally in a variety of ways. The process of gaining self-awareness involves observing the patterns that these structures form in order to dismantle them and also rearrange them. In other words, we don't control how these maps look of what they're made of, but we do control how they're placed and where, how they combine to create new pictures through which we can approach reality. When the appropriate blueprints or templates are aligned, we get focus that we can use in all sorts of ways. In this lovely post, @andrastia tells us about a moment of alignment that inspired her to take up a book filled with information seemingly jumping out of the page for her, and also about a magnificent experience of enlightenment provided by her daughter's reaction to her weeding the garden. I think she's a great candidate for the Mental Health Awareness Badge.
The girl's wisdom moves me deeply and brings to the fore a work that I've had to do during my recent time of isolation and self-questioning. Last week I visited a place that was filled with dense energy. I enjoyed myself and approached both the place and its denizens with gratitude, but I wasn't welcome. At best, my behavior and vibration were baffling and at worst, insulting to the people there. Then I attended the wedding of a great friend and it was such a joyous, relaxed, open occasion that it felt as if the Universe had arranged for me to get a stark contrast of two worlds and choose which one I wanted to pursue. The answer was obvious, but I also observed why these two moments and places were so different: the former was full of people who don't know how to thank, the latter only had gratitude all over. Each have and deserve their own space, but I always choose self-love, and so is @cynshineonline, as she explains it in this excellent post on the affirmations she's been telling herself in the mirror and how they've changed the way she lives.
Affirmations are a powerful way to slowly rebuild the our personal concepts and cleanse the language that we use to refer to everything around us. They've helped me enormously in obtaining insights about how I see myself; in a sense, they're like shedding previous blueprints and lenses in favor of new ones, more suitable to our needs and to the approach we want to foster in our lives. Another tool that we can use for this task is meditation, of course. The capacity to quiet down the constant thoughts that arise in our minds is inherent to this practice and, although it's hard to make a daily habit out of it as @peacefulsoul can attest in this post, he also points out that the pace of meditation shouldn't be a reason for anxiety or guilt, that we can meditate in accordance to our needs instead of schedules. Doing more of a thing doesn't mean we do it better, after all.
The way we look at things directly influences how we approach them. We can either complain and feel miserable, resist and fear, or we can seek ways to expand and evolve, to learn new things and reconnect with everything that surrounds us. In her latest contribution, @mamrita shows a distinct determination to embrace her own expansion with joy, and tells us about her experience in an intense retreat where attendees revealed profound connections while working on intimate issues together for ten days. She returns to Stockholm and to work feeling reinvigorated and driven, and it shows not just in her words, but in the wonderful images of this post.
We make choices all the time, and when we grow aware of them, we can suit them to a specific purpose, tune them to our requirements, just like the maps, narratives and blueprints that I discussed above. But here's another marvelous perspective that speaks essentially of the same things with a different vision: @erinktran sees daily life in terms of colors that in turn speak of frequencies that she associates with various activities and attitudes. I've also used this point of view and it's served me extremely well during my spiritual process. I encourage you all to give it a shot, it's not only a beautiful way to see life, but also quite fun!
