Good evening hivians, hope the day is doing you well.
There is this saying eat your food as medicine so that you will not take medicine as food. This days we have seen how everything is changing if you don't eat well, you have battle to fight with your health. Especially in this our generation you hardly see people living up to 90 - 100 years which our forefathers used to live longer this was possible because of what they used to eat but in this our time especially this younger generation you hardly see them taking time to prepare all the old food our forefathers used to eat this is why we are having health conditions everywhere.
If I tell you numbers of health conditions that we found everywhere is due to what we eat. We have forgotten old days foods we jump into junk food, fried fried food forgetting to add vegetables, some bush spices green leaf, natural sauce. Today in many home if you mention food like the food am preparing right now for dinner they wouldn't know because all they know Is fried rice and chicken I thank God for Akwa Ibomite the south south region of Nigeria many home today has gone back to old food they teaches their children how to cook all the native food and this has help some part of us live healthy.
Some one like me, I stayed a little while in the village so I really love native food than all the fried food this is why I always post about native or natural foods here because this is what I love to eat most you know staying with old people that is grandparents is very very beneficial because there are things you will not know in the city, but you will know in the village this people I mean our grandparents, they love to teach you almost everything and you must know by force. All you will hear from them is I am preparing you for your future husband if you are female if you are male, they will I want your wife to love you as the best husband that knows how to cook and also being hard working so by this you have to learn this is one of the advantages of staying with your grandparents in the village and I love it.
Because I am what I am today through them thou my grandparents died early but I learned so much from them it is always my happiness that I was there to learn from them during their stayed on planet earth. Because that act today if I cooked, most people do ask questions where I learned how to cook whenever I hear this I feel so glad and the credit goes to my grandparents for teaching me to become what I become today. So today I want to share with us my dinner for weeks now I've been looking for plantain to cook and eat but plantain this season according to the sellers is always very scarce and if you see at all it will be very expensive compared to normal season of plantain. So since I needed so much I promise myself that whenever I will see plantain no matter the price I will buy it. Fortunately for me today I went out to meet with somebody as I was passing I saw it on somebody compound I went in and ask for the price I was told that this four piece of plantain is 500 naira (five hundred naira only) since I was looking for it I didn't hesitate I buy it but in normal season this supposed to go for 200 naira (two hundred naira) but I never mind I bought it.
I love this food so much especially when it is mix with beans I can eat without getting full so today I'm going to cooked it the way I was taught by my grandmother of blessed memory. Is very different from everyone recipe why I say so is because is not everybody that eat bonga fish "ibat" here to some home they don't like it they rather prefer smoked fish to bonga fish. But my grandparents used to like bonga fish so much because of the sweetness and the best taste this fish will give. Me too I came to like it too and it best suite with native foods it brings out the uniqueness of the food. I also learned from them that bonga fish is very good for health that it is the best fish to eat.
This is the bonga fish we called it ibat here.
The bonga fish
This is when I distach them so that I can't separate the bones.
This is bean I parboil it
So I parboil my beans, filter it peel the plantain and cut it round round into the beans pot add water I cooked it for like 15 minutes so that the plantain will be soft while eating after sometimes I added the bonga fish, Crayfish, Maggi, pepper, slice onions and finally red oil and turn it well to mix the food is done. I know many people will not know this but I do not blame them it is because of where they are being brought up they may not know this particular delicacy except they are willing to learn. This food taste so sweet and yummy my fellow young ladies, Mommy's and Aunty's let's go back to this old food that will make us live longer, healthier and strong and our husband live Long for us let fight this bad health condition, let's eat natural food, food fill with vegetables and native spices.
This is how the food look it is ready.
The ready food
By so doing we will live long with good health, strong and we eat our food as medicine not taking medicine as food.
Thank you for your wonderful time remain bless. I love you all. Hope this post was helpful
