Hello hivers!
Lately I've been working a lot more and focusing on what is important. I've been planning a hike up a new hill where I haven't been yet for a very long time. The weather forecast was perfect and I finally had a free weekend!
On Saturday I woke up early before the sunrise, took a nice cold shower, packed my backpack with lots of water and had a nice cub of coffee, while I was checking the written path up the internet. Grabbed key's of my Syncro and took a short drive about 20 minutes to the parking area, where was my starting point to hill Lisca - 948 m (3,110 ft).
Arrived at the starting point at a 7.10am, put on my trusted hiking boots, locked the car, sneak peaked at the written locations on my phone and started my way. Temperatures were just right, the sky without a cloud and I had no idea where I was going.
Started the adventure by following the road up a hill, went up the stairs that lead in the woods and continued the path there. First 30 minutes of the path to Lisca were marked very well and easy, almost like a straight walk in the "park".
At early hour there was nobody else to follow, just local dogs chilling on the sun, birds singing and temperatures rising. Half the way up I had to really look for the hiking path marks, check written path on the internet and of course I followed the "shortest" path.
Was on the path called "threw the rock" and after 50 minutes I started to see why, it was narrow, had to use my hands, take slower steps, and just continue going up, to sielence the mind.
As I got threw it and my fear of height, the path rewarded me with amazing view of river Sava and the surrounding hills.
Was the steepest path just the right one to challenge myself and my mind. When I almost reached the top I lost the sight of marks, just followed the path, started going slightly downhill. Panicked a little bit, continued and got to the wall where only prepared climbers go, with a warning sign and a glimse of the 368m rock wall..
Then I turned around, followed the path where I came from and looked for any other tiny path that leads up to the top! Found a "goat's path" and after another 15 minutes finally reached the top!
On top I got rewarded with amazing view down the valley and one of our biggest rivers flowing threw it called Sava. Also had a nice view of the next hill I have a goal to get on top of it and find the path.. called Javornik or Bohor.
Soon I started my path back down, asked other hikers around for any other safer path back down. Some weren't sure about it, but I found out multiple paths to get back down to my starting point Podgorje where I parked my car.
Took the shortest but steepest route, going downhill I went over the longer more friendly path. I knew where I was going, a lot more hikers on the way down and time was getting nere lounch time.
At 10.40am I was back where I started, packed everything in my car, drank some more water and drove back home to make a well deserved lounch!
This was my first time finding a new path up the hill I never went before. Usually there was someone with me showing a path, but that Saturday I challenged myself to find a new way to get up a hill I've never been before myself.
It was a great adventure, full of positivity, awesome exercise, huge amounts of fresh oxygen and amazing views every time I stopped for a minute and looked around.
Definitely coming back soon!
When was your last hiking adventure?
All photos were taken by me and my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Have a great day, stay Happy, Strong & Healthy!
