https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBN29Q1xDH8 * Paani Puri/Gol Gappa * Vada Paav * Paav bhaji * Bhel Puri * Chaat * Sev Puri * Masala Dosa * Small iddli * Jalebi The list goes on. Street food is very popular in India, especially in the cities where the lower income group people can fill their stomachs without having to spend a large amount of money. It does not mean that the well off people or those who are too rich avoid these kinds of eateries. They too are seen visiting these joints often. The names of the common street food may be different in some states. For example, the paani puri is known as Gol Gappa in the northern parts and in neighboring countries too. Street food is surprisingly not very popular in the southern states though but instead, States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu have small tea shops where one can go inside, sit and eat snacks and other light foods. Also, Kerala has more steamed foods like the Puttu and Appam which is in fact more healthy and hygienically prepared. I am sure you would have eaten from a street food joint at least once in your life or from a food truck and it sure does tasty and is easy on the pocket. Post covid era, it is better to be careful about eating from such places. Here is a fun scene from a popular Hindi Movie about a Gol Gappa eating contest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGqWzif-aMI [YT source](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9SSUKnJIJxUjTD3eBaymLQ) [YT source](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbTLwN10NoCU4WDzLf1JMOA) Posted via [neoxian.city](https://www.neoxian.city/@sayee/common-street-foods-in-india) | The City of Neoxian
