Did you get tempted with the "go sober for October" event? No? Maybe you missed that one or now after something much more challenging, how about going sober for Christmas!?

------------ Pixabay.com --------------- I can tell you right now it's not easy with all the parties and events going on, perhaps a glass of wine after work? Maybe a beer or 2 with some friends round their house while playing cards, or maybe champagne to celebrate something special, what happened to "how about a shot or two" out on that night-out? It all seems so normal and innocent but it's surprisingly easy to slip into a habit of drinking much more than what you had planed before you left the house with only that 20 bucks in you pocket. ### Recommended Weekly Booze Allowance? Apparently the recommended weekly allowance is of 14 units a week. Cool, but what does that mean? Well its something to the equivalent of six medium glasses of wine, or to make it even easier for us guys lol it's around seven pints of beer.

------------ Pixabay.com --------------- Drinks can soon add up...and I'am talking "units here not money" and it's said that between the ages of 25 to 35 one in five of us are consuming way more than what is considered a safe weekly allowance in one single night. Not drinking for one month can lead to a long-term drop in alcohol consumption this is said to work with an average of %72 of people. It's not a guarantee but the odds are indeed in your favour. Plus the benefits of giving up alcohol for a extend period of time is good for you beyond just giving you a break from dealing with all those cloudy hangovers lol. Infact regular drinking disrupts your sleep cycle. ### But wait! Doesn't drinking help one fall asleep quicker? Actually your right it does help you fall asleep faster.. but as time goes on you'll spend more time in the less restful state of sleep called "REM sleep".

------------ neurosci.org --------------- This stands for (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which will infact make you feel tired when you wake-up, this is regardless of how long you sleep for. Cut out the alcohol and you'll spend more time in a proper restful deep sleep state making you feel instead more rested when you wake-up. ### Metabolism With getting less good sleep and alcohol consummation it reduces your metabolism as your body burns off the alcohol first. While it may seem like liquid surely wont make you gain much or any weight they are high end calories hidden in those lovely celebratory cocktails, as with an average of just over 300 calories in just that one "half bottle" of wine. Hmm something to think about. Also another thing to think about celebratory cocktails, beers, wines etc it all equals one other thing, and that is a hole in your pocket. ### Money Baby!

------------ Game- Conkers Bad Fur Day --------------- Do some quick maths, and if you usually spend $30 a week on a bottle of wine and a night-out buying beers with some friends but instead you have now decided to cut out on those events, you could be looking at saving something like $1,500 in a year. With all that extra money you could treat yourself to a holiday in Portugal, yes to the beach, here we go!

------------ Game-Mario Kart 64 --------------- Which reminds me alcohol can give your skin a unhealthy texture or colour often causing redness, this is called "rosea" or "Herald's Patch" if you like. With the less booze drinking it will help your skin recover from the dehydrating effects of alcohol consuming. Your body can then absorb more of that vitamin A that it needs for increasing its cell turnover which of course is what is keeping your skin looking healthy and younger for longer.
