Hey Hive! Now that it's been quite a while since Singapore has has been out of lockdown, or what our government has termed "circuit breaker", restaurants have been operating pretty much as usual aside from implementing safe distancing measures. We've also been eating out more and trying different foods! So back in October 2020, we went out for a nice fancy lunch at Tunglok Xihe Peking Duck! Source: [The Ordinary Patrons](https://ordinarypatrons.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/TungLok-Xihe-1-1200x900.jpg) This served as both a belated birthday meal for me, and to celebrate us moving into our new home! We were finally done with moving stuff (or at least most of it anyway) and we needed a nice break. Since we had vouchers to use, we decided to come here and have a nice meal together! I think I wrote about this place [a couple years ago](https://steemit.com/tasteem/@taco.cat/tasteem-279955), when we came here the first time with my family and ate peking duck. But this time is different since we came here just the two of us, and we ate different foods because there was absolutely no way we could finish even half a duck between the two of us. We weren't super hungry then either so yea there was no way we could finish that much food. The restaurant looked pretty much the same since the last time we came but this time I actually noticed the interior a lot more since it was brighter (the first time we came was for dinner). With the simple grey chairs and dark wood furniture that match the door frames separating the dining areas. I really liked the gold mural at the back though; it really gave it a regal oriental look. I think they might have changed the tables to round quartz tables but the general aesthetic is similar. We actually got one of the tables with the huge booth and it felt way too huge for me. But we didn't have much choice since they were enforcing social distancing rules and we couldn't sit any other smaller tables. It was pretty comfortable though. We also went pretty late after peak lunch period in order to avoid any potential crowds so the place was kinda empty. The [menu](https://tunglokxihe.oddle.me/en_SG) is pretty much the same; with a wide variety of meat, vegetable, seafood and rice/noodle dishes. Of course their signature is their peking duck which we actually really enjoyed last time. At lunch they also have a selection of dim sum dishes so we decided to order our favourite dim sum dish: beancurd skin prawn rolls! This is one of our go-to orders whenever we eat dim sum. And while it did have the usual yummy taste, this one was kind of lacking compared to other dim sum places we've tried. Granted, this restaurant doesn't specialise in dim sum, but the roll itself was barely warm and crispy which kind of ruined it. So this might've been a mistake to order; thankfully we only ordered one dim sum dish so it wasn't that big of a deal. A couple minutes later, our main course arrived! We ordered my favourite dish - Stir-fried ‘Ee-fu’ Noodles with Shredded Pork, Mushroom & Leek! I think they might have reduced the quantity for this dish since there was only two of us, and I don't think there were different sizes for this. So I guess they must scale the quantity according to how big the party is or something. Either way, it was alright since we couldn't eat too much. It was delicious as always! The noodles were nice and smooth with a slightly chewy texture, and the sauce that it was fried in was good and not too salty. The pork and vegetables matched it really well too. It was definitely as yummy as I remember, but I think I could barely finish two bowls, so Sean ate more than me. We did finish it though which was good. Our last dish was a vegetable one - Trio Eggs Spinach in Superior Stock! To fulfill our daily vegetable intake, we chose this one since it was probably the healthiest vegetable dish they had that didn't have stuff we don't eat. I think the 3 different eggs that were in this dish were century egg, salted egg and normal chicken eggs. This is a pretty standard vegetable dish that you'd find in most Chinese restaurants. And it pretty much tastes like how you'd expect. The soup was subtle and mixed well with the egg and spinach, and overall it wasn't too overpowering and in fact quite tasty. It definitely tasted healthy, which is good. I actually drank a lot of the soup which was why I was so stuffed! By the end of the meal both of us were really full! I think that was one of the most satisfied meals we'd had when eating out, which is good and tbh kinda to be expected since it was a fancy restaurant after all. We spent most of our vouchers on that meal and in the end we only paid like 5 bucks or something. What a deal! But really, if you're looking for a nice place with good, authentic Chinese food, or you want to try Peking Duck, definitely come to TungLok XiHe!
