Its one of those chores that you ( read I ) is always postponing. Its a thing I need to take time for and that’s always my excuse. Not this week! While preparing for my care and the things required for me getting help I decided to do this and start fresh. With a big family the fact that things have their own place within the fridge is something not all members of my household got the memo for. Mum will clean and re-arrange ! Yep I will but please when it’s clean try to let it be that way for a while.

I am chill and will do this ! It’s also a lifestyle to keep the house and the appliances clean. It’s more healthy and things have a longer life within your house.

I start with getting all this in the fridge out and clean all the shelves by removing them. I take soft detergent and rearrange all things. Some that are half empty or close to the expiration date I throw away.

The shelves are clean when I put all in again and when it’s finished I am satisfied by the end result. But for how long hahaha.

Then after it’s cleaned properly and set it to the right temperature. I give you a number of tips for cleaning and which products you keep in the fridge. For health reasons, its recommended to have the fridge on a temperature of 4 ° C for the cooling part. This temperature inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. Many things can influence the energy consumption of a refrigerator: at what temperature the refrigerator is set, what temperature are the things that you put in the refrigerator, how hot it is in the kitchen and of course how often and for how long you open the refrigerator. With a few small tips you can (still) be (more) energy-efficient with your refrigerator: * Do not put products or dishes in the refrigerator that are warmer than (a high) room temperature. For example, let a soup cool down before you put it in the fridge. * Take home refrigerated or frozen products from the supermarket in a cool bag, especially on a hot day. At home, put them right away in the fridge or freezer. * Set the refrigerator to the correct temperature. * Do not place the refrigerator in direct sunlight or in the immediate vicinity of a heat source, such as the oven or heater. If there is no other place, stick insulating foil to the side of the refrigerator. * Let frozen products defrost in the refrigerator. * Open (and keep) the door open as little as possible. Perhaps a piece of cake, but very important for limiting energy consumption.

This is something that needs to be done and when it’s finished you need to pin it to the calendar, for next time. I know @dswigle has a tag or use to end her blogs with it so hope she likes it hahaha

What do you keep in the fridge and where? In general, what is chilled in the supermarket, you also keep at home in the refrigerator and vice versa. But there are exceptions. Eggs are in the supermarket outside the fridge, but are best kept in the fridge at home. Just like soft fruits such as strawberries, currants, raspberries and blackberries. But it is better not to keep a pineapple in the refrigerator. As I said before : Clean the refrigerator often enough. Preferably once every 3 months. This way you ensure that it continues to work efficiently and prevent the growth of bacteria. * If it’s possible switch off the refrigerator. Store the products outside in the winter, in cool bags in the summer. Remove and clean all shelves, drawers, bins and racks with washing-up liquid. Clean the inside with dish soap or mild all-purpose cleaner. Don't forget the door and the door seals. Clean the drain channel with a cotton swab. Polish with clean water and dry everything with a clean tea towel. Clean the rear grille once a year with a vacuum cleaner. Also the outside and the handle because that one it behanded 40 times a day by your family only.
