Understanding how tyranny and 'the collective mindset', are inseparable.

#### The most virtuous action of a courageous individual is not to take part in a lie. (paraphrasing Alexander Solzhenitsyn). Alexander Solzhenitsyn was the Russian author who wrote his book _The Gulag Archipelago_ - which documents the decade that he spent as a political prisoner (under Stalin).

_If these policemen know covid is a lie, then they are cowards._ _Authority and 'obeying orders' - no matter how unethical - is more important to them , than having courage..._ Solzhenitsyn firmly believed that in combating tyranny the individual plays crucial role. A belief in the power of the individual to not only combat's tyranny but _maintain_ the health of a society. ### This perspective has been shared by many thinkers and philosophers over the past centuries. Ralph Waldo Emerson Frederick, Nietzsche, William James and Carl Jung , to name but a few.. Because of the leftist indoctrination camps (schools and universities) that have proliferated in the west over the last six decades, it became 'unfashionable' to think in terms of the individual. _Or rather, critical thinking had been slowly ejected from educational institutions, to be replaced by leftist - non critical thinking - dogma._ Collective action - from the perspective of the individual -is cooperation among groups of people - of individuals - to achieve some common end - and is an important vehicle to help manifest change. With that being said - it will be ineffective at bringing freedom in an un-free world, if people do not first _free their minds_ of the incessant indoctrination that they have been exposed to, in 'the learning years'.

Looking back at recent history , there an obvious commonality among the brutal dictators of the 20th century. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Castro, or Pol Pot... ##### ...they _all_ stressed the importance of 'the collective' over the value of the individual. Tyrants such as these in recent history (and just like the politicians of today) are all proponents of 'collectivist ideologies'. Therefor, it becomes very clear that 'the individual' is essential to counter tyranny. Those who desire to rule over others do not espouse collectivist ideologies because they believe it will benefit those who they rule over. Rather, they do so because it provides them with a secure source of power. The _massive_ benefits of collectivism - for those who _desire power_ arise from the fact of that _collectivist mindset_. NOT any specific ideology. 'A collective', is merely a group of people with collectivist ideologies. Ideologies can be built around innumerable possible factors -race, ethnicity, class, gender, or religion. ##### Ludwig von Mises wrote: _"There is no uniform collectivist ideology but many collectivist doctrines, each of them extols a different collectivist entity, and requests all decent people to submit to it. Each sect worships its own idol, and is intolerant of all rival idols."_ Humans - being social animals - have a natural yearning for community, and a desire to attach themselves to some form of a collective. Being part of a collective is a a natural human drive. This healthy human instinct , is the used by those who desire to rule over others, but at the same time - _they do not want people to attach themselves to any such collective_. They to use that _natural collective instinct_ against them (useful idiots) so as to get people to elevate _the power hungry - the tyrant -_ to a _position of superiority_. The nation-state for example, in modern times, has been elevated to the position of 'the supreme collective' by those who desire to rule over others.

Without indoctrination and heavy doses of propaganda (which were heightened to new levels around the early part of the 20th century and WW1), it is far more likely that people would more readily - naturally - identify more closely with their local communities, and others that they have real connections with. Indoctrinating people to 'worship the collective' - one's national identity is a valuable tool for politicians - as they are viewed as the leaders of these 'collectives'. The more people who identify with the nation-state, the more minds that are in possession of those who are _in power_. ##### While offering immense benefit to the ruling elite of a nation, this 'collectivist mindset', paves the way for tyranny. _(Paradoxically, nation states - in today's world- are the best current form of global decentralization that we have)_. ##### The state. Carl Jung explained : _"...the increasing dependence on the state is anything but a healthy symptom. It means that the whole nation is in a fair way to becoming a herd of sheep, constantly relying on a shepherd to drive them into good pastures (and) the shepherd's staff soon becomes a rod of iron, and the Shepherds dog, turns into wolves.."_ The ability to indoctrinate people to believe in the supremacy of a certain collective (and to be turned into what Jung called a herd of sheep) , is _crucial_ for a tyrannical regime to maintain control over a population. _Always_. During the famine in the Soviet Union under Stalin's reign, where the rulers had massive police forces, spy networks, and prisons camps, this tyrannical regime _still found it necessary_, to make use of massive amounts of propaganda, continuing to 'glorify the collective'. This shows is that sheer brute force is _not enough_ to maintain tyranny. #### A tyrannical regime will only maintain power if they can control the minds of their subjects. When you to come fully realize this - then you also realize that gaining control of the minds (of individuals) is most vital for controlling a population. ### THEREFOR.... ...The first step in _countering tyranny_ is to undergo the difficult process of freeing one's own mind. ##### _...OF CLEANING YOUR HEAD_.

The consequences of 'voluntary stupidity' is dire - and multiplied with the onset of our expanding digital technology. It becomes increasingly necessary that we set _ourselves_ - not others - right. ##### Those who preach the values of 'collectives' would like people to believe _the exact opposite_. DON'T CLEAN YOUR HEAD. DON'T THINK FOR YOURSELF. Those who _do_ clean their heads and free their minds from state indoctrination, then provide service to others, voluntarily, and in a state of self awareness. Those who find solutions for themselves can then act as role models for others to help them to understand the process. Any study of history shows that a healthy society depends upon individuals with _clarity of mind_, capable of effective responses to new situations. The individual is efficiency. _And the exact opposite of collectivism and tyranny_. An interesting observation by the historian Arnold Toynbee suggested that a loss of creative power in the souls of _creative individuals_ , is one of the key factors that leads to the breakdown of civilizations. The role that individuals must play in the creation of a free world for In a society dominated by oppressive governments and collectivists mindsets, what is needed , is role models - ones who can show by example, what it means to be free. ##### "...those who insist upon change coming from above - as something to be _imposed_ upon others, by institutional authorities, have given up on people. ##### They have lost their confidence in the life processes that exhibit themselves only within individuals..."_ _Butler Shaffer_. Someone who has freed their mind - clean their heads - set themselves in pursuit of the truth and is unafraid to boldly speak their mind - even in the face of severe opposition. Others , those with courage, will then strive to emulate such an individual and thus, will have become one less pawn in an oppressive system.

Carl Jung: _"...the psychology of the individual is reflected in the psychology of the nation. Only a change in the attitude of the individual can initiate a change in the psychology of the nation_"
