Another step closer to the end of the year everyone wants to be over. I always believe momentum is important for long term goals. While this has been a challenging year for my fitness and health goals, I feel that the last month has been positive given that I have started to reverse some trends and gain momentum towards my goal of remaining fit and improving some health related metrics. I think that most of my metrics are good at the moment except for my weight. I have prepared myself to hear the truth as I have already gotten my appointment for my yearly physical exam for early January 2021. That means that I have two months to get it a little better and save me from a lecture from my doctor and the embarrassment I give myself. The main reason the past month has gone well is that I have once again been able to stay away from most carbs; particularly the sugar heavy sweets. This is always the toughest part for me but I have been on track since early October and hope to keep it going for a while now. It has been great to have support as my wife has become a Keto chef and continues to surprise me with unique recipes.
My activity remains very consistent as I have not sacrificed the time to get something done every day. While I have definitely reduced the intensity, I have continued to keep the routine of getting a workout in almost everyday. With the exception of some days I was traveling, I got at least 30 minutes of cardio done. Now the focus will need to shift to increasing the intensity. This has already begun as I have started to mix weight training again as the gym is now open. Still plenty to do but the trend is positive and momentum is building. I continue to find motivations where they have lacked most of the year. I have also finally found some time from work to dedicate to more healthy and fitness activities. I am probably still got half way on where I need to be but encouraged on where I am!
