How To Craft a Great Natural Medicine Wisdom Challenge Post!

##### Hello you gorgeous Steemfolk! I hope you are happy and healthy in mind, body and spirit today - or at least smiling as you go! First of all, thanks to ALL of you that join in on the Natural Wisdom challenges. We truly value each and every entry, and try to celebrate you as much as possible by: - upvoting competition entries from this account - upvoting where possible from @riverflows account and other Natural Medicine members who regularly check the tag - resteeming your wonderful entries - awarding lots of juicy prizes, from steem to SBI. ***Since there's been some new members of late, and a great uptake for our challenges (where you can win up to 40 Steem!) we thought we'd write this little post to give some more in depth information on how to put together a great post to share.***

##### **This is even more important as we are sponsored by Curie at the moment, who's matching our winnings 1:1! So the previous 20 Steem prize is now doubled to 40, which is considerable!** And if Curie is keeping an eye on this contest, you'll have a much better chance of being seen and upvoted by them if you write a fabulous post for this challenge! By entering the challenge, you not only raise the *integrity* of the contest, and have a BETTER chance of being selected for prizes, but perhaps get curated and recieve some great rewards for what you do. Of course, it's nice to think that sharing our natural medicine journeys is incentive in itself, but isn't it nice and validating when @curie, @c-squared or @ocd pop along and reward what you do? If you want to see some writers who ALWAYS bring quality to their entries, check out @walkerland, @artemislives and @plantstoplanks. Not only do they include personal stories that engage and entertain, but they also add clear, orginal photographs that are well focussed *and* a lot of passion. Here are some ideas that really make for fabulous reading. Take note, because they can be used on *any* post you are writing on Steemit! **Photographs** : They don't have to be perfect every time, and for us, sometimes they're not important if the story is great. But other curators will be definitely looking for sharp, clear and well composed photos, so do take care if you're hoping to be noticed. **Be Original** : It goes without saying you need to source your information and not plagiarise, but originality can take other forms too. Sometimes it's your presentation, but often it's a unique story that we haven't heard before. Consider what other posts you've read - are you writing something completely different? **Getting Personal** : This can be difficult for some folk, granted. But a human interest story really engages us. It can be really good to 'hook' us with a memory - sad or humorous, nostalgic or light-hearted, stories make the world go round, and YOURS matters! This can really encourage interaction too, so do think about sharing these. Check out @artemislive's story about her daughter Ploi getting sick [here]() for a great example of a personal story. **Research-Based Facts** Sources add credibility to your posts, even if they take a little more time. Try reading some journals online about the medicinal benefit of your chosen food, for example, or the neuroscience involved in a meditation practice. Of course, this might not work in every post, or even be necessary. Don't just copy and paste a list of benefits from HuffPost or another online publication, because it can be a little dry and boring. If you're going to list, make it short, considering what might be most important. **Tagging Others - or Natural Medicine** I prefer this done right at the END of the post. I like the post to stand on it's own two feet, almost as if it's not an entry at all! So don't include 'An Entry to the Challenge' in your title, but something memorable and engaging. When you get to the end of your post, you can THEN write 'this is an entry to the Natural Medicine challenge' and link back to the challenge post - but even then, if you really feel you don't want to 'spoil' your beautiful, possibly *curie* worthy post, then we're okay if you leave it out too. It's also super nice if you enter a contest to try to pop in and see some of the other responses too. Even a few is a real kindness - you might really make someone's day. That's part of why #naturalmedicine has succeeded for so long - we're a family, a collective, a community, and love to help each other out. It's a great way to find new people, especially those who share your interests, and regardless of the post rewards, we always feel GOOD when we connect to people, because they matter, and we matter, more than an upvote ever could. We hope this post helps you a little bit. Feel free to leave any comments below about what YOU think makes a good post. For everyone posting their wisdoms for the challenges, from newbies to those who post every challenge without fail because *they believe* wholeheartedly in natural medicines, we love you so! From our lotus heart to your lotus heart, we bow down to your beautiful souls! Thankyou!
