Commitment... What does it mean? Well, it means that you are not lost. Those who cannot commit will never go far. This is why addictions weaken the spirit. They hurt your ability to commit to yourself, to your life, to your progress. Health is, after all, the first step in spiritual progress. If we are not healthy, how can we progress through our lives with happiness and confidence? A lack of health robs us of our confidence, happiness and can affect our progress in life. Committing to your spiritual study is just important. It doesn't matter which study it is, but something is needed. We all have to understand who we are, and in order to understand who we are sometimes, it is helpful to understand the struggles and the practices of the highest evolved spiritual souls that have come before us. This is a study that rewards us with faith through the hearing of their faith. Plus spiritually speaking, there are not a ton of people who make it to the highest levels of spiritual attainment. So those who do make it to that level should be carefully studied and revered. Of course, everyone has a different idea about who these folks are, but without emulating someone of merit, you basically succumb to the lowest common denominators of society. Why is the media so toxic? Because the people accept such toxicity as normal. Perhaps they don't know any different, or perhaps they are comfortable with a level of darkness in life. However you view it, the mainstream culture is there to make you feel insecure and fearful, instead of spiritual independent and empowered. They want you to keep your head down and work within their system, not create your own. You are whoever you want to be in this life. Not whatever anyone else gets you to try and be. Aside from committing to your body and your study, you have to commit to right actions. In the words of Lao Tsu, your thoughts become your words, your words become your deeds and your deeds become your destiny. So without proper thinking, speaking and acting you are asking for an imperfect life/destiny. If you want the absolute best for your life, it's time to get serious about what you will have to give up to get it...
