This recent NATURAL MEDICINE question it is intriguing to me: DO WE LIVE HEALTHY LIVES TO AVOID OR POSTPONE DEATH? [In this sense, the following lines are my contribution to this question as my entry to participate in the contest:](https://steemit.com/naturalmedicine/@naturalmedicine/nm-wisdom-challenge-due-april-26th-20-steem-to-one-winner) Thinking about death is something we avoid in many times. It is a subject that can take away our tranquility and joy. However, it is good to be realistic and understand that death is part of life. Actually when thinking about it we should be happy, because we should associate death with a supremely profound fact: WE HAVE A LIFE, we had the opportunity to exist. It is a fantastic opportunity, an indescribable phenomenon, that many did not have the opportunity to enjoy. Thousands of people died at an early age, many people did not reach birth, were aborted, etc. On the other hand, righ now we do exist, we have a wonderful life: thanks to it we enjoy many fantastic things: the sunsets, the song of the birds, the rivers, the music, art, wonderful people around us, and many etc. THINKING about death reminds me that WE HAVE A LIFE, that we should take care of and love. https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXKqG4ayMqm31TDBTuqUJ5VTqxdhNPCBWNvwSrBhnxTEY/image.png [Life is a joy](https://anadiazblogmm.wordpress.com/author/anadiazblog14/page/2/) Several cultures have a very wise position about death. During the funeral of a loved person no one cries, but rather they celebrate with an effusive feast the wonder that was his life, how fortunate they were to share at his side. This is a charming vision, because it highlights the more positive side of something that at first sight seems to be totally negative. https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZty3VAa7fA3tbjYKJmE7RhcwerRMkPhrCmbKovGdYAgj/image.png [Festival of the Dead, celebrated in Mexico](https://fr.123rf.com/photo_75599789_défilé-du-jour-des-morts-dia-de-los-muertos-à-mexico-mexique.html) It is not at all certain that by having a healthy life we can postpone death, since many times life is unjust: good and healthy people unexpectedly die, but I think it is more important to take care of oneself not to postpone death, but to have a high life quality at all times, so that we have the vital energy necessary to pursue our dreams intensely and to achieve the maximum enjoyment of the precious and unique life we have to live. Will it be possible to postpone death? The answer to this question is YES, this is being demonstrated by science: Recently, a revolutionary technique called gene therapy is being put into practice with surprising results, for example, four years ago Elizabeth Parris was the first person to undergo a rejuvenation treatment through genetic therapy. At 44 age, because of her lifestyle, Elizabeth showed a biological age of 64 years. Our age has a direct relationship with the length of the ends of the chromosomes, called telomeres, as we get older the telomeres shorten and with it appear degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. After her therapy, Elizabeth was able to lengthen her telomeres and now she looks and feels vital and rejuvenated. https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmaLQN5waMzWM93LzwVzKZVLRdHYFnVmZaU68h6ETt2ni2/image.png [Image from the page describing the antiage therapy](https://www.descubretumundo.net/2016/04/primera-terapia-genica-exitosa-contra.html) This is a happy endding story, but other people like me do not have the possibility to lengthen their telomeres to get younger, but what is certain, we still enjoy the great wonder of HAVING A LIFE, finally this is what matters most.
