Old age is a time of great reflection in our lives. Even when you are still young you may have wondered what your life will be like when you reach your golden years. What I can say is that someone taught me not to worry, to just live my youth the best I could, to take care of myself, to eat healthy, exercise, walk a lot and do productive things.

Old age comes slowly and sometimes it is not very noticeable, but it will show signs that soon it will be inevitable, and you will have to live with the consequences of your choices. Sometimes your choices will result in a healthy and happy old age, but sometimes it will be a difficult old age, with many health complications, you can also live this stage of life with a lot of loneliness because your loved ones are no longer around for some reason, or do not want to hear from you.

If things do not result as we would have liked, we should not blame ourselves and make assumptions. Sometimes what we do in life to be prepared for eventualities just doesn't work out. Life has its surprises, but we should not be so pessimistic and we should do what we can to have a better quality of life.

I invite you to consider the following to prepare for senile time:

  • Give thanks to God when you get up and when you go to bed, giving thanks for his daily kindnesses.
  • Take a short morning walk
  • Contemplate God's creations: the trees, mountains, flowers, birds and everything around you and be thankful for them.
  • Eat moderately including lots of vegetables and fruits
  • Have a medical check-up even if you are not ill.
  • If you are diabetic do not consume sugars and check your eyesight to avoid diabetic retinopathy.
  • Even in old age we can develop talents such as embroidery, knitting, painting, writing written and photographic memories.
  • Maintain a good relationship with your partner if you have one, children and grandchildren.
  • Work and save in your youth so that you can be self-sufficient in the future.
  • Give a good example to the youth around you and don't be cantankerous.

Remember that no success in life will compensate for failure at home, that is why you should consider family as your most precious asset, and this will bring many pleasant memories in your life that will make your old age more pleasant and it will avoid bitterness and pain. No one knows how long we will live and how our future life will be like but it is better to look forward with hope for a better world.

All the pictures belongs to my family album.
