The reset button I hit last month was a great idea as it gave me some well needed time to reflect and somewhat detox my body of the challenges I have been having for a couple of months. While the month did not end in a high note as the Holidays and family time had me deviate from the plan regarding diet (again), it also reminded me how much better I feel when I have both fitness and a healthy diet in my everyday life. The last days of the year made me feel sluggish because of the diet but my body still felt pretty good when working out during those days.

One huge accomplishment last month was the fact that I significantly decreased my intake of carbonated drinks and substituted it for water. While caffeine by way of coffee continues to be a key part of my day, the reduction of the drinks has helped me be a bit more calm and reflective which has allowed me to concentrate much more while at work and focused on tasks. While I am still having some, I know default to water instead the majority of the time. This also came with a substantial reduction in my carbohydrate intake which I continue to believe is my worst enemy. My body loves it so much but feels so bad when I consume them, even in small portions. Contrary to what I understand, my energy levels are so much better when I do not consume them. My focus and concentration are notable better as well which continues to encourage me that this is the best lifestyle change I can make. I have tried to keep a balance so that it can be sustainable which is why I have not been tracking my food intake or my weight so that it can feel more natural.

Activity Dec 19.png

I continue to be proud of myself for doing some type of physical activity at least once a day everyday. While some are just simple walks for 30 minutes, I feel that they are a great part of my general fitness. Not all of it is focused on my physical fitness as my mental fitness is just as important and the time to just walk has been great for reflection as we start the new year and decade. I took one rest day towards the end of the month but ironically I felt as if I hurt myself right after. I am currently dealing with some aches and pain on a leg. I can still jog and run but regular walking and moving from seating situations is abnormally painful. I may need to take an extended rest soon but I am trying to push through it with some light activity and replacing intense cardio with some more weight training. This could lead to some challenges to start the year, particularly with my @actifit tracking.

Actifit Dec 19.png

An incentive throughout the year for me to remain active has been @actifit. Combining the passion of Steem with my fitness has been a great way to motivate me reaching my goals. While my diet was mostly a failure last year, my fitness levels remain healthy and I continue to have a good base of physical stamina when I push myself. A lot has to do with the Dapp as I see myself watching the count at various point of my days to ensure I remain on track for that 10k goal. The start of a new year and decade has me encouraged in many fronts. Fitness and Health continues to be one of the them as I grow older and continue to feel the difference that age puts on my body and wellbeing. Having a young family makes me be more conscious of these important decisions I need to make for myself. I realize that if I do not do it, nobody will do it for me so I prefer not to regret not doing so in the future. Bring on 2020!
