Coffee just got healthier? OMFG! Overly dramatic acroynms aside, yes we can indeed make your coffee healthier. I figure most people enjoy a coffee or ten in the morning so what better way for me to hack your health than tapping into your favourite drink. So without further ado......here we go

*"This plebe better get to the coffee soon"* **1 - If possible choose regular coffee over decaf** Short for decaffeinated coffee, this is where the coffee beans have been washed with chemical solvents to remove 97% of the caffeine present in regular coffee. While decaf coffee retains quite a few health benefits you do lose some such as: - Improved mood, reaction time, memory and mental function - Increased metabolic rate and fat burning - Enhanced athletic performance - Reduced risk of mild depression and suicidal thoughts in women - Much lower risk of liver cirrhosis or end-stage liver damage So unless you're a caffeine sensitive individual I would definitely recommend regular over decaf. **2 - Add a dash of Cinnamon** Cinnamon is a herb that you can sprinkle on your coffee to add a tasty flavour. In addition Cinnamon has been shown to be beneficial to triglyceride levels, lower blood glucose and it benefits cholesterol levels. **3 - Add a dash of Cocoa** Yes that Cocoa that is in chocolate! Not only does it add a rich texture to your coffee it also comes with a myriad of health benefits such as a powerful antioxidant boost and improved cardiovascular functioning. Keep it to sugar free/unsweetened varieties. **4 - Avoid adding sugar to your coffee, try Stevia.** What is one way to make pretty much everything unhealthy, thats right, add sugar to it! Unfortunately for many of us our taste buds are addicted to the sweet taste. A healthy alternative is Stevia, a plant-based sweetener that is associated with many health benefits. It might take a while for you to adjust to the taste but your body will thank you for it. **5 - Vanilla extract** Vanilla has been associated with boosting mental performance, being beneficial to brain health and being a potent stress reliever. Not only that but it is a delicious and flavourful addition to your regular coffee. So get inventive my friends, explore these flavours and enjoy not only the taste but also the deliciousness. Enjoy, Tom
