First the size of the lungs : a man lungs hold around 750 cm³ of air (female 350cm³). Together, the lungs contain approximately 2,400 kilometres (1,500mi) of airways and 300 to 500 million alveoli. The Surface area (estimates varying between 70 and 145m2) for gas exchange to occur. With those simple numbers, we can quickly see that the lungs will be the pathway of choice for various diseases. So come the question : how to have healthy lungs.
