The Corona virus (Sars-Cov2) has taken humanity by assault. Supposedly evolving from the SARS-Cov1 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome) which first appeared around 2003. I am not going to talk about how you should behave or not in this situation. If you want to take a look at some official guidelines and technical background of this disease here is some initial information: https://emcrit.org/ibcc/COVID19/ The death rate of this virus in the US was around 0.04% in beggining March, while at most 0.1 / 0.2% around the world, while appearing only affecting some countries. This is a percentage that is around 0.5% (until now) of any cause of death (accidents, overdoses, etc) while mostly affecting elderly and people already with health problems (diabetes, respiratory and hearth problems, etc). https://www.justfactsdaily.com/vital-facts-about-covid-19/ *I will try to outline the social consequences, pretexts and social conditioning that brings up to humanity that are already obvious to occur or that have already occurred.* I'm writing this as the perspective of a portuguese. This is unprecedented and introduces measures that most of us never seen in our lives, remembering Portugal when dictatorship was installed, there was a tuberculosis and some other infectious disease spreading in the country. ## - Social distancing Division of people, people interacting in general should be away from each other more than 2 meters at least. ## - Mandatory confinement As a way to prevent disease spreading hoping that it will decrease the speed of the spread. People disrespecting this are being warned, fined, humiliated and even beaten. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssWz8hLB6qE https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/400498978057093120/693284375583784990/91005590_4069043836442642_8911102857596370944_n.png ## - (Forced) technological unemployment People find themselves without jobs from one day to another, with most not having chance to get back to the same employer. Injection of world states and banks money to job centers, online work, applications, networks that might help work from home or remotely. Injection of states money to pay employed people to stay at home. Injection of money into automation prioritizing online deliveries and services. This will have consequences will create significant changes in world economy. ## - Stocks and world economy crashing The world economy was not in good shape already and this "outbreak" caused a panic selling of stocks as the world stops to a halt in a scale that is unseen for most. Cryptos with the first and most used Bitcoin also taking a big decline. A barrel of crude oil hit very low prices, as low as 25$, while the price of the end product still not reflecting this drop. The few stocks resisting the first down pressures were pharmaceuticals and biochemicals companies. ## - Universal Basic Income (though not universal, not unconditional) Some countries quickly talked about a relief fund to pay their citizens regardless or not they are employed or sick in order to minimize going outside for everyone. This as yet to realize, as priorities are companies, banks, economies and not people. ## - Increased wifi exposure During this "emergency" period everyone is staying at home, people and their children are much more on the internet also with the devices being much closer to each other than in "normal" times, exposing themselves and their neighbors to a prolonged exposure to wifi frequencies, known to be harmful to humans (and animals). Governments have also quickly partnered with telecoms to offer some mobile data to citizens (or already paying subscribers) in order for them to have access to the internet anywhere. ## - Installation of 5G (upgraded mobile networks and wifi) There have been reports in several countries that telecom companies are going around in vans installing 5G network cells in schools, public spaces and even rural areas while people are in mandatory confinement. Alot of people are against the installation of more wifi cells specially in schools, remembering that the internet was not created based on air transport of data *altough it may be much cheaper for governments to do so.* https://steempeak.com/news/@clarityofsignal/us-government-rolls-out-secure-5g-and-beyond-act-of-2020-in-middle-of-coronavirus-public-lockdown-installation-of-5g-antennas-at ## - Increased information networks control. Some countries have stated that they are looking into cell phone tracking to control people infected with COVID-19 and population movement. ## - Internet control and neutrality There is a pretext for a more controlled internet with censorship being applied to who is speaking out against the measures applied by governments, this was already reality for some countries but introduces the pretext for a more strict worldwide control with the argument of security. Speculating on the speed and neutrality of access this may also introduce new or different charges on each service as the services get overloaded, we might experience shortages or temporary cuts. https://peakd.com/politics/@ura-soul/the-us-earn-it-act-pressures-for-an-end-to-online-encyrption-in-the-name-of-child-safety-it-looks-to-be-just-another-power-grab ## - Vaccines / Conventional medicine Introduction of the discourse of a possible vaccine to cure COVID as a matter of world health safety. ## - State of emergency / martial law State of emergency as been declared pretty much worldwide, limited dislocations, military activated, fines and prison time being applied an ## - Drones / Robots Use of drones for population monitoring and street patrol of people who are breaking mandatory quarantine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVm9g6Dn0QI ## - Supermarket shortages Supermarkets have been having shortages due to mass buying by people that can stock up, people with less money still have to get supplies more frequently. These shortages are more due to the speed of consumption than the lack of food or delivery as some are also quarantining / rotating their employees as a safety measure and they cannot restock the shelves. Prices of food and basic supplies remain the same. ## - Petty crime and prisons Some countries police forces have turned their back on crime not responding to some robberies or small crimes or letting detainees go. Some prisoners (ending time, etc) were also let go while some are rioting for health condition. ## - Protests In a time where alot of countries (France, Iraq, Hong Kong, Lebanon and many others) were protesting against their governments they now have mostly stoped as events with large gatherings are generally prohibited. China where the virus suposedly has first showed up seems to reaching a tipping point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Hot5n2Evg *More and more it seems that this event will be a world changer. Keep safe and healthy.* https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://img.esteem.app/2kr0k9.png https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://img.esteem.app/kayl3f.png
