Raspberry is a shrub of the rose family. Grows in forests, thickets and clearings. Cultivated in many countries with temperate climates. In total, there are more than two hundred types of raspberries. Its fruits vary in size, color and flavor. Raspberry season is very short, so most of the time, when fresh fruit season ends, canned and frozen foods come in handy. The nutritional, health and taste qualities of raspberries have been valued for centuries because fresh and dried fruits and leaves are valuable plant materials. Fresh fruit can only be present for a few weeks, which is why raspberries are one of the most processed fruits. On the basis of raspberries, there are jams, preserves, juices, tinctures and jellies that should be included in the diet of not only caring grandmothers. Raspberry fruits are excellent support for the immune system, help neutralize free radicals and have a beneficial effect on the nervous system and cognitive abilities. Raspberries are rich in minerals, which are a valuable source of potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron, so they are very beneficial for the heart and circulatory system, essential for strong bones and teeth, and highly recommended for anemia. Raspberries are red multicolored drupes with an aromatic scent. Raspberries are rich in organic acids, mainly citric, malic and salicylic acids, as well as pectins, anthocyanins, sugars, slimy and volatile aromatic compounds. They contain a number of valuable vitamins, including vitamin of life: C, vitamin of youth: E and B vitamins. Raspberry leaves are also used in the herbal and pharmaceutical industries as they are rich in tannins, organic acids, flavonoids, mineral salts, mainly iron, copper, calcium, and resins. They also have nutritional, astringent, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. The tannins they contain inhibit the growth of intestinal bacteria and are effective against diarrhea. Infusions of raspberry leaves can also help reduce nausea and vomiting. However, they are not recommended for pregnant women as they contain substances that relax smooth muscles.
