A daily need

A simple daily need, or let's say, a daily something that is eaten in many living rooms at the breakfast table, ... bread! In our small village there are still some bakers who sell the freshly baked bread every day, but if you the best it can be a problem to find a bread that you really like. Nini, my wife, is currently in the Philippines, and because of her health she cannot eat regular bread. The solution: she started baking bread herself with the ingredients she can have. A second aspect is the airfryer ... Misunderstood and bought by many people to make the so-called healthy fries. In many families, the airfryer therefore is only used to bake fries, but it is usually not liked. After all, it is not the same as the fries you get in a so called "frituur" here in Belgium, or the ones you fry in hot oil. For example, that airfryer is most of the time used to bake snacks in it.

But when you try to push the limits it is a breeze to cook in the airfryer. Just about everything goes here. Meat, vegetables, potatoes, and ... yes! Also bread! We surely are not the only family where a bread machine also belongs to the kitchen arsenal. But with such a machine you bake a loaf of 500g bread, which is way too much if you like to eat fresh bread and you are alone like me. So that bread machine has moved to the storage room, and I learned from my love how you can easily make a bread with the airfryer. The recipe? Pretty simple! 200g flour from a ready-made mix. Add the amount of water corresponding to 200g flour. You knead this by hand for 10 minutes. Let it rest covered for 40 minutes. Knead again for 5 minutes, then let it rest covered for 40 minutes a second time. The dough in a baking mold, in baking paper in the airfryer for 35 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius. Let it cool down a bit and cut it. And ... tasty!
