Just about everyone with a functioning brain knows that movement is essential in life for at least a few reasons. First, to get the blood flowing and the heart pumping. Second, to burn off excess energy and stress which accumulates throughout the day! but did you know that walking and dynamic movement also helps with keeping the immune system clean? It turns out that movement such as walking itself acts as a sort of massage for the muscular system but also helps to increase the flow of the **lymphatic system** i.e. the lymph nodes. One of the unavoidable aspects of modern society is toxic build up in the immune system. The lymph acts like a sewer system. Gunk, dead bacteria and other cells travel through the lymph nodes. This is one reason why when people get sick their lymph nodes **become inflamed** and bigger. This is sickness being fought off by the immune system. There is no heart to pump the lymphatic system. So we have to manually get the lymphatic mucus moving. Part of this can be done through **self massage (see picture**

Step-3.jpg

I first noticed this by accident years ago when I kept coming down with a pesky throat itch which usually meant a cold. I noticed my neck lymph nodes were inflamed and I massaged them and used finger pressure and noticed immediately that the throat itch was gone and the cold never came! Walking and light movement and postures like yoga help to move fluids around the body in general, increasing blood flow to areas that may have "clogged up" due to muscle and tissue tightness. It also helps the digestive tract to move increasing peristalsis (bowel movement), and it also helps to flush the lymphatic system so your body can get rid of toxins! Walking and bouncing movement also helps by literally massaging cells at the cellular level. Imagine for a second that a cell is a malleable water balloon of sorts. When you gently bob a water balloon in your hand what happens? It stretches slightly and returns to normal. This is what happens to your body's cells and this sort of movement is like a miniature massage for your cells and is very healthy. Its all about movement. A body stuck in place for a long time gets stiff not only in the joints but in the fluid systems which are designed to move and cycle. Just one more tool to add to the arsenal of health and longevity to **navigate the health matrix** *If you enjoy my work like, comment or subscribe or follow me on other rising social media sites like:* Minds: https://www.minds.com/h24leanmachine Medium: https://medium.com/@benhetzel Insta: @h24leanmachine
