An easy 1-min test to identify the quality of a product and presence of starch in it. Unfortunately, starch has become a widely spread Ingredient in many products. Manufacturers add too much of it to increase the weight, substitute many other products by it or even add it to products which can not include it at all!! Milk products, meat products, even sweets - starch is everywhere!! Is it bad? Yes. It's fraud, first of all. It's harmful for the health. Starch is useful only when it's raw, after cooking it's just clue for our body. So how to identify its presence? A cheap and perfect assistant - iodine! Just some drops of it on a product and in some seconds the result is ready. Starch will change the yellow (orange, brown) colour of iodine to BLUE (violet). It's paste I bought in the shop. Paste must include only dried fruits. Only. It was too cheap, and I doubted... And I was right. Just look what they sell.
