One of the best ways you can learn and motivate yourself to lose weight is to hear from those who can relate to your struggles. People who understand where you've come from, what it's like to be overweight, what it's like to try and lose weight, to fail, to try diet after diet, to feel down and out. Reading weight loss success stories of these people is what can push you in the right direction towards a new healthier life and not just because they can relate to where you've been and where you are at. But mainly because they have succeeded and overcome your shared struggles, which concretes the fact that you can too! - How I Lost More Than 100 pounds with No Cooking! Right off I can see some of you shaking your head saying “How did she do that? Diet pills or surgery?” Actually, all I did was take the easy way out. Remember that Subway guy? I did something along those lines. Let me tell you about it. First, let me say that I have had problems with my weight since I was about 10 years old. When I was younger than that, I was “too skinny”, according to my mother. Fattening me up was no problem, but once I got “too fat”, going the other direction seemed to be impossible. I swear I have tried every diet possible, other than fasting. Yes, I know, I suppose I should have tried that, but when you literally start dreaming and daydreaming about food, even when you ARE eating, it just didn’t seem to me that I would make it one day fasting. Don’t get me wrong, I would lose weight on some of the diets. I would lose it and then it would find me. I know you know what I’m talking about; otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this article. It seems to me that the main problem was that if something changed or upset my routine, I would find that I “had to” drop the diet. I would tell myself it was “just this one meal” or “just this one day”. One day turned into 2 days, which turned into a 4 day weekend and it was bye bye diet. Let me tell you what I did instead that actually seemed to work for me. - Frozen Dinners and Meal Delivery Service Don’t shake your head again, keep reading for another minute. If you are like me, you tried some of those so called “diet dinners” that come from the frozen food aisle and said “Never Again!” I know what you are talking about! However, things have changed dramatically from those soggy pizzas and simply awful spaghetti meals. In fact, there is a company that caught our eye recently and, wow, was I ever surprised! - Eating Well Frozen Meals It’s called Eating Well frozen meals. As of this writing, they only make what we would consider lunch and dinner entrees (unless you like pesto chicken for breakfast) but what I would do was make a sensible breakfast, and then eat one of these for lunch and dinner. I found that I had an instant weight loss plan with virtually no work (other than going to the store). I didn’t seem to have a problem eating a reasonable breakfast (two eggs and a piece of toast, for example) and I measured out 100 calorie bags of sensible snacks (such as celery and peanut butter or an apple with some cheese), and then enjoy lunch. One of my favorites was Chicken and Wild Rice Stroganoff. This frozen meal has only 290 calories and 30 grams of carbs, even though it has plenty of wild rice ( a healthy whole grain) Brussels sprouts and chicken breast in a delish sauce! I always had a second 100 calorie snack ready for the afternoon, but to be honest, after the first month or so, I found that I wasn’t really hungry until dinner. For dinner, I might choose something like Korean Inspired Beef. This yummy dish also has 290 calories and 35 grams of carbs, but packed into those skinny little 290 calories is fire grilled beef strips and vegetables, smothered in a sesame/garlic sauce. It tastes so good; I remember reading the box more than once to be sure I wasn’t missing something. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. I enjoy a little something sweet at night, so I would enjoy a 100 calorie serving of applesauce or one of those 100 calorie frozen fruit popsicles. Those were great because I always felt like I was “cheating”. I usually ended up consuming between 1200 and 1400 calories, including my snacks. Best part of all? No cooking! I occasionally made a green salad with just a tablespoon or so of dressing, but I wouldn’t really call that cooking! Each meal plan is designed by a dietician to ensure that I was eating perfectly balanced meals that worked best for my body. They offer low carb, Paleo, and vegetarian meal plans. While you can order 5 or 7 lunches or dinners, I went the whole route 7 days of complete meals (3 meals per day) as well as order a healthy snack each day. I was shocked to find meals such as Pork Tenderloin with green beans or Tilapia with smoky BBQ sauce in my package. I couldn’t believe I was getting all these foods and, the icing on the cake? I lost more weight that week than I did in a month of low calorie eating. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. You might think that this kind of personalization means big bucks, but surprisingly, you could get a full program of 5 breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for a little more than $100. Shoot, I easily spent that on groceries alone! I lost my first 50 pounds or so within a year by choosing Eating Well frozen dinners and sticking to a reasonable breakfast. I lost the next 50 pounds in about 6 months by using BistroMD’s low carb option. Best of all, I did it with virtually no “cooking”, meal planning, diet pills or surgery. - Mother of Two, Sick of Looking Old & Fat; Loses 160 Pounds and MORE! Whenever I hear people talking about their New Year’s resolution to lose weight or how they are going on this diet or that diet so they can look better in a bikini, I never know whether I should tell them that I’ve lost tons of weight using (mostly) the Atkins 40 diet and, more recently, a combo of two different diets, but more on those later. I mean, why should anyone take my word for it? Although I have a few pictures (unfortunately, most of my personal items were lost in a flood) they might think that I’m bragging or that I’m just exaggerating. I usually don’t say anything unless they ask.
It's true that I was thin as a child, but it’s because I was very sickly until I was about 11 years old. I had pneumonia when I was 6 weeks old and it seems as if I got it again almost every year after that. I was so thin at one point that a good gust of wind under my umbrella actually picked me up off the ground! My mother tried to keep weight on me, but in the worst way possible. Snacks were cookies or cake or ice cream. She bribed me to eat by saying that if I finished my plate I could have cookies or brownies. It set me up for a sweet tooth that has been my undoing. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. The weight began to show when I was about 10. My mother was originally happy, but by the time I was 13, I was downright fat. I was a mere 5 feet tall and weighed 150 pounds. Then she tried threats to get me to lose weight, such as, if I didn’t lose X number of pounds by next month, she wouldn’t take me shopping. It didn’t work because I couldn’t fit into any cute clothes anyway, so I ignored her. I began to hide packages of cookies under my bed.
I got married at 19 and although my husband liked me fat, I didn’t. I was disgusted by my wedding pictures. I was now 5 feet 5 inches and weighed 200 pounds. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself.
One of my friends told me about how he had lost weight through this amazing program called Atkins. He loaned me his book and I spent the weekend reading it. Now this was the original Atkins, which recommended 20 grams of carbs each day or less. It sounded crazy, to be honest. How can you eat bacon and eggs for breakfast and call it a diet? I decided to take the book’s recommendation and try it for a weekend. What did I have to lose? (sorry about the pun) I lost 7 pounds. Seven pounds in one weekend! I was sold. I stuck to that diet! My husband complained that I was going to get scurvy from not eating fruit and that I was getting "too skinny". I ignored him (but did try to let him see me eat a small piece of fruit now and then). I lost 35 pounds the first month, and 15 each month after that. I was thrilled. One of the things I didn’t pay attention to, however, was that I was supposed to gradually start increasing my carbs until I began to gain weight, and then cut back so that I could maintain my weight. I stayed on that less than 20 grams program for probably 4 years! My kidneys hurt after a while and I went to the doctor, who was horrified about my diet. He told me to get off or risk kidney failure. I went off the Atkins diet. I was 25 and weighed 130. - The Yo-Yo
Well, I must say that the next few years were crazy, but fun. I ended up getting divorced (hubby didn’t like me being so thin) I went on a lot of dates and ate everything in sight. I took a different job in another city and moved away. By the time I was 32, I weighed 230. I remember looking at the scale and suddenly realizing that I weighed more now than I ever did in my life. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without having to catch my breath. My idea of exercise was walking through the grocery store! However, I was afraid to go back to the Atkins diet. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. - Nutrisystem
I had to do something, however, so I decided to try Nutrisystem. I loved the idea of never having to cook, never having to count carbs or calories, everything was done for me! However, I wasn’t very happy with the price, nor how I felt. In the 1990’s, it cost me $200 to join, then $60 a week for food. On top of all that, I was hungry. All. The. Time. I did all kinds of things to try to keep my mind off food, but it was so difficult! I’m very stubborn, however, and I stuck to it for 1 year. I lost 60 pounds. This was maddening to me because I lost that in about 3 months with Atkins. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. My life was changing again and I accepted a different job that had extremely high stress levels. I stopped Nutrisystem and decided that I could do it myself. I really did try! And after 2 months, I gained back 10 pounds. I remember crying all weekend because I just didn’t know what to do! I knew I couldn’t keep “starving” myself, but I was determined that I wasn’t going to put that weight back on. - Weight Watchers I tried the Weight Watchers Points system for about 6 months. While I was very excited about it at first, marking all the boxes in the house with their points per serving, looking up recipes, etc. I found that the fees were pretty high for what I was getting. I didn’t like the looks I got from others during those weigh in’s either. Perhaps some people find these kinds of support groups really work for them, but that wasn’t the case with me. I also found that I was hungry most of the time. While I thought that would pass after a few days, it didn’t and I quit after a few months, really disappointed. - Terrible Choices
While reading about diet plans, I heard about a drug called phentermine. It was part of the Fen-Fen combination that didn’t hurt the heart. Best of all, at that time, I was able to buy it off the internet. No one had to know, I didn’t have to weigh in or anything else. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. And I must admit it worked like a charm. Especially in the beginning, I only took 1 pill each day and I found that, not only did I have tons of energy; I had no desire to eat. None. I could eat, but I simply didn’t want to. I remember sometimes going 36 hours without eating! I was so proud! I was so happy! It only took a few months and I was back down to 130! But as the saying goes, all good things come to an end. After about a year, one pill did not do the trick. Within 6 months, 3 pills a day did not do the trick. My body had become accustomed to phentermine. Then came the day I could no longer buy it online. It had become a prohibited substance without a prescription. Again, within a matter of months, the weight began to creep back at a rate of about 2 pounds a week. I was soon back at 230. - Menopause Madness
Ladies, if you haven’t gone through menopause, I don't want to scare you, but it's pretty sucky. I saw a picture of myself at the lake and I was horrified at how I looked. Now I was not only at my heaviest ever (237), but I looked older to boot! I wasn't going to wait around to hit 250, I was going to try the diet everyone was talking about. After going full on kidney destroying protein with the original Atkins, paying outrageous prices for Nutrisystem food (which wasn’t that tasty) and Weight Watchers, risking my health with diet pills, and always falling back on Atkins 40, I think I might have found a diet plan that really works for me; the Cinderella Solution. - The Cinderella Solution The Cinderella Solution is technically only 14 days in length, but you can repeat it until you reach your desired weight. It was similar in some ways to Atkins, but in this plan, calories DO count and the focus is on eating a lot more natural, healthy fats, not protein. I altered the plan a little to suit my goals which includes adding cheat meals. Studies repeatedly show that flexible dieters tend to do better than rigid dieters often see anything less than 100% perfection as utter failure. I decided to give the Cinderella Solution diet a chance. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. This diet is scientifically based and seems to work well for me. After determining my BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate), I used the information in the book to create a calorie deficit. I also began some moderate weight training and eating a great deal more healthy fat, rather than protein. I believe that the combination of calorie restriction ( mostly from cutting back on carbs), weight training and walking at least 5 days a week, along with the consumption of lots of healthy fat (HELLO Guacamole!) was the key to losing weight while I went through menopause. I will be honest, I did feel a bit hungry the first two or three days, but I noticed that if I drank a big glass of water when I felt hungry, I felt just fine. I think I might have been more thirsty than hungry. After about 5 days, I no longer felt those hunger pangs. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. Since going on the Cinderella Solution, I’ve lost 50 pounds since February of 2017. I'm not hungry and I’m feeling much, much, better. While it's slower than using the original Atkins diet, I’m happy that I'm losing anything rather than gaining! Want to know more? Here is my story and how I combined the Keto diet along with the Cinderella Solution to help me lose 80lbs and 9 dress sizes in less than one year.
I am a mother to a beautiful daughter. I am 5’1”, and at my heaviest, I weighed over 210lbs, which put me into the extremely obese category!! The Keto diet, along with the Cinderella Solution Diet, worked so well that I lost too much weight! I went as low as 118lbs, which worried many of my family members. Today my current weight is 130lbs. I am happier than ever, I can now take my daughter to mini hiking trips, fun runs and anything else that involves us doing exercise together. We have found that this not only keeps us in shape, but it has given us terrific bonding experiences. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself.
- The Beginning I was a chubby kid. Ever since I can remember I’ve been overweight. Here in my country, a healthy kid is defined as having chubby cheeks, a cute little belly and flabby arms. My eating habits were not healthy. Rice is a staple food in my country and I am very used to having it with every meal. I would consume 2-3 cups of rice per meal, along with some fried meat, usually chicken or pork. That’s 1,000 calories in one sitting, just to satisfy my hunger.
Everything was fine, until I became a very self- conscious teenager. As we all know, it’s in our teenage years that we start being picky about what we wear and what image we want to show to the world. I had a few crushes in school, but I knew that, with the way I looked (I was really overweight), no boy would ever look at me the way they looked at skinny or even curvy girls. Like most women, I tried a lot of diets. Everything from eating nothing but veggies (that lasted only a few days), to starving myself by eating just crackers, to measuring every bite of food I ate, to trying different kinds of juice cleanses that promise to “detox” your body and supposedly help you lose weight. Guess what? Some would work, but the moment I stopped, the weight came back. These diets and eating habits continued until my late 20’s. At that time, I was getting desperate for something that would actually work. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lKcTTg)to take a look for yourself. - The Realization The day I realized that I was unhealthy and completely unsatisfied with how I looked, was when I needed to attend my best friend’s wedding and I had nothing to wear. Not only that, but when I tried to go shopping for a dress, none of the stores had anything that would fit! To make matters worse, the reception was held at an outside garden which required some walking to get to. I was so heavy that just 5 minutes into the walk, I was already exhausted! After the wedding, I saw photos of myself and I was not happy! I couldn’t believe that fat girl in the pictures was really me! It was at that moment that I decided that I had to make changes to my diet and start living a healthy lifestyle for myself and my child. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lLhXGZ )to take a look for yourself.
A friend recommended that I check out a diet that she saw on Facebook. I remember asking her, “Is this diet going to force me to eat like a bird again”? I was so accustomed to diets promising weight loss if you ate less that this is what I came to expect. Once I read more about the Keto diet, I was convinced enough to try it. - The Keto Diet What exactly is the Keto diet? The keto diet is known as a low carb diet. When you eat carbohydrates, your body makes insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is designed to store fat (among other things). Your body will use the carbs in your diet for energy and then store whatever you didn’t need as fat. When you stop eating carbs, the liver turns that stored fat into something called ketones as energy. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lLhXGZ )to take a look for yourself. This means your stored fat will be used for energy, rather than your body storing fat! This diet goes by other names, including the ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat (LCHF), and oftentimes, simply “the keto plan”.
- The Journey Overall, my diet journey was tough. I say “tough” because there are a lot of tempting foods! Imagine going to an event where some of your favorite foods are served and you can’t eat most of the goodies served on your plate! With continuous exercise and my low carb diet, I lost a total of 80 pounds and was able to wear extra small shirt without feeling insecure! Losing weight is half the battle. The other half is maintaining that weight. For the most part, I’ve stopped drinking sugary drinks (Other than on rare occasions), eliminated chips (I tried to snack on healthy options that are allowed on the diet) and started making the right food choices. I also made it a goal each week to have Sunday as my cheat day if I eat properly the other 6 days of the week. By the way, a cheat day does not mean stuffing your face with all the foods you love, but eating them in moderation. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lLhXGZ )to take a look for yourself. I think the main reason that I have succeeded this time when I had failed so many other times in the past is that a low carb/ keto diet allowed me to eat to satiety. I didn’t feel hungry for the most part. While there were days when I was hungrier than others, I never felt like I was starving, like I often did on the other diets. To keep me from ever returning to my former self I used the 5lb rule suggested by the Cinderella Solution.
- Success After losing so much weight, I feel more confident. That confidence has radiated to my work, my personal life and how I look at life in general, because I gained a more positive outlook. My bloat was eliminated, and my skin is glowing! I can now climb stairs and walk long distances without feeling tired. I was able to join a 5-kilometer fun run, and for the first time, I wasn’t that tired walking long distances. I joined several fitness classes (Zumba, yoga, Crossfit) just to keep everything exciting and fresh. Click here ( http://bit.ly/2lLhXGZ )to take a look for yourself. - Start With a Goal In Mind Now Ask yourself; What is it that you want to achieve? This is a question that only you can answer. Do you want to lose weight for health reasons? Do you want to fit into your old clothes again? Start with a goal in mind. Believe me, my motivation to lose weight was a powerful one and it helped keep me strong when I wanted to eat chocolates or binge like crazy on a cheat day. It doesn't matter if you want to lose only a few pounds or go all out for a full-blown transformation. If you want some real motivation, browse online for before and after photos of people who have succeeded on their weight loss journey. You can also join some of the weight loss forums, communities, or groups that have the same goals as you. You will find many of these on Facebook and other social media outlets. Groups can help you stay motivated and gain new friends. You can share recipes, work out tips, as well as find support when you have those inevitable bad days (Let’s face it, we all have them). Overall, change will only happen when you decide you want to change, set goals, follow through and accomplish them through hard work and dedication. I wish you good luck on your weight loss journey and I hope my story has inspired you to reach your own goals. If I can do it, you can too!
