Day 29. I'm one day away from completing the 30-Day Blogging Challenge. What makes me feel better in terms of my inner self? I encountered this question in Part 1 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge. My answers will still be the same in terms of what makes me feel better. I'm not a complex person, so this challenge question will be easy to complete.
Not feeling one hundred percent every day happens to all of us. We have good and bad days. Some days we may be happy or just content, another day, a health issue may arise; then still another day, a problem may exist that is farther away from us and we can't control, but still makes us worried or depressed. In all things we are taught to recognize the existence of items or situations that cause us concern. Society urges this so that we can root out these issues and fix whatever prevents us from feeling our best and living our best lives. Below are a few of the solutions I utilize to make me feel better. They can be used every day, sparingly, or over the course of one's life to achieve the feeling of wholeness or peace within. - **Healthy diet and active lifestyle.** Whenever I'm feeling sluggish, I have to stop and ask myself the reason. Normally it's because I've failed to eat properly. Second, it's due to lack of exercise. I have several underlying illnesses that demand that I eat healthy the right types of food for my illness. Exercise is key. It's not always fun and sometimes painful, but it's necessary for me to work through it to keep active. I have arthritis that prevents me from participating in high impact exercise, especially on my knees. There are other low impact exercises I can participate in that will accomplish the same tasks. I always feel better after a 15-minute workout. Then I prepare a healthy meal consisting of organic fruits, veggies, pasta, and meats. Limiting my intake of coffee and soft drinks while drinking plenty of water helps my digestion and my causes me to feel refreshed. - **Proper sleep and rest.** To function properly in our daily lives, medical experts tell us that sleep is extremely important. The proper sleep helps to repair our bodies physically. Sleep and rest are essential for me each day. I don't always adhere to it, but I do my best. I frequently take short naps during the day. With my underlying conditions, I have been advised that sleep is important to help maintain my blood pressure. - **Leisure activities**. Away from the computer or online activities to spend with family is a must. You have to strike a balance in everything you do. I always feel better when I'm offline relaxing, sleeping, traveling, or socializing with family. My favorite place to relax is at the beach. I love sitting next to my RV and listening to the waves, then watching and nearby birds and activities of the beachgoers. I can think clearer and iron out any distressing issues. More often, though, I just grab a good book I haven't finished reading or select a new one and read until I fall asleep. - **Limit number of commitments.** Overextending yourself only introduces stress into your life. Avoid taking on too many projects. Learn to say "No." I had to do just that in my life. Many times either family or friends would request my assistance. Even though I was already committed to other actiities or project, I still tried to squeeze time in between to help them out. Recently, a family member requested a special cake I make that contains a homemade topping that requires standing over the stove for a long period. I can barely stand 15 minutes at a time. I gave that person the recipe and instructions, agreeing to provide step-by-step assistance. In my attepmts to help, please others, or multitask, I ended up with lots of work and high blood pressure. I have learned to say "no" to many people and not feel bad about doing so. I immediately feel better once I've declined an added task. - **Health and safety of family and friends**. When I know that my family and friends are doing well and can take care of themselves, that makes me feel better. - **Engaging online.** Writing always make me feel better. I try not to overload myself and force myself to write or engage with others in a specific timeframe. I tried doing that. The result was burn-out. Now I take it slow and write whenever I feel like it or have the time to spend online.
