##### Have you heard the BUZZ about the new HIVE badges? They are something else. They are awarded to anyone who powers up on HPUD day - Hive Power Up Day!!! Natural Medicine is joining in the fun and offering a month long, 200 HP delegation to three lucky Hivers who powers up on September 1, helping grow your account and spreading some HIVE loooovvvveeeeee. We'll also throw the winners 400 LOTUS tokens too! ### WHY POWER UP? @traciyork said it perfectly in [her post](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@traciyork/announcement-post-hive-power-up-day-october-1st-2020) about the October 1st PUD (which you MUST read for conditions and for more cool prizes): > **I believe Hive has the ability to grow far beyond our current expectations, and it's encouraging to me to see other people (from whales to the tiniest fish in the Hive ocean) powering up, as it shows we all share the same long term vision for our blockchain home. And as we saw with what happened on that other blockchain, the more we all power up, the more voice we all have in governance (higher stake means your vote counts for more), so we can have our say in things like top witnesses, proposals, and such. Plus there's something to be said for the financial benefit of bigger curation rewards, and earning passive income from the interest off our stake.** ## A Tiered Badge System Don't worry if you only have a tiny amount of HIVE to power up! @hivebuzz have created a tiered badge system. Even if you can only scrape together 10 HIVE, you can still earn a badge. Read ALL the details in their post [here](https://peakd.com/hivebuzz/@hivebuzz/pud-202009)!!

We look forward to continuing to increase our HIVE Power to best support the community. We look forward to seeing those cool badges on everyone's profiles!!! A reminder about the timeline to win some cool prizes (again, [READ THIS POST](https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@traciyork/announcement-post-hive-power-up-day-september-1st-2020) by @traciyork): - Power up Hive on October 1st, 2020 (by midnight UTC time) - Post about your powerup on October 1st, 2020 - Official winners list will be posted on October 5th, and we will disperse the delegation shortly thereafter. #### Don't forget you can check your Stats and see your badges on the Hive Buzz site [here](https://hivebuzz.me/@naturalmedicine)!!

Getting COVID-19 infection!

https://usermedia.actifit.io/57469f31-c6b9-4f0c-a199-214bd8ca007a
Duration of talking or staying with a COVID infected patient is an important risk factor for getting the virus. Studies have shown that for a successful infection, 1000 copies of virus must need entry into our body. Talking (of an infected person) provides 200 copies of virus per min while breathing provides 20 copies per min. A 5 min face-to-face talk with an infected person (without mask) may provide sufficient amount of virus (5×200=1000) to infect a healthy person. Similarly, staying for 50 min with an infected person (without mask) in a closed space (e.g room, bus, car etc) may provide sufficient virus to infect other non-infected persons, without a talk, just breath in the same air. In most of the countries, it is now community spread level. So that we can't avoid coming in contact with COVID 19 patients. Wearing mask is the most protective way so far. Did You Know 7 Unexpected Health Benefits of Farts

https://images.hive.blog/DQmXNrkWBGa2pdHBCcz2wD3zppAsNegxWkPQnq3JiSZTwZH/images.jpg

images.jpg

Image Source Fart is often identified with something embarrassing. Especially if you fart make a sound or smell. Even though, farting is a natural thing experienced by humans. It is a byproduct of our digestive system. Farts are healthy and good for the body. In fact, when we can't fart, we will feel uncomfortable like gas or pain in the stomach. Summarizing from Healthline, the body produces gas as part of the breakdown and processing of food. When eating, chewing, and swallowing; we also put air into the body. These gases then accumulate in the digestive system. Some of it is absorbed naturally, but the rest must of course be removed from the body. The rest of the gas leaves the body in the form of farts and burps. The formation of farts in itself indicates that this has health benefits for the body. There are at least 7 health benefits of farting. **1. Reduce bloating** If you feel bloated after a large meal, the gas that isn't coming out may be one reason. The fart itself is responsible for removing this gas from your digestive system. Letting the gas escape and evaporate will instantly reduce your bloating and discomfort. **2. Good for the large intestine** Launching from Men's Health, farts can make your intestines happy and reduce the risk of colon complications. When you can't or can't hold fart, gas can limit bowel movements. This causes discomfort in the digestive system, pain, and even constipation. While holding in a fart sometimes to avoid embarrassing sounds isn't a problem, it's actually the habit of causing medical problems for your colon, according to Women's Health Mag. **3. As an early warning system** Farts also serve as an alarm for something that is happening to the digestive tract. In fact, farts can predict major health problems from an early age. Quoted from the Huffington Post, things to watch out for from farts are extreme odors, increased gas frequency, and strange gas pains. This condition may be a symptom of lactose intolerance or in extreme cases such as colon cancer. **4. Smells good to you** Farts are often associated with bad smelling gases. But it turns out that the smell of fart is also useful for us. A study has shown that the compound we produce in small amounts in farts, hydrogen sulfide, can actually protect against disease later in life. This gas is the "rotten egg" smell that often appears in digestive gases. In large quantities, these compounds can be poisonous. However, in small doses it can prevent cell damage and prevent strokes and heart attacks. **5. Help balance your diet** We all need a balanced diet to stay healthy, and your farts might help provide clues as to what foods your gut needs. Different foods produce different types of gas. This tells you what you may be missing from your diet or whether you are overeating. For example, if you pass gas less frequently, you may need more fiber and foods like lentils, chickpeas, and kale in your diet. Conversely, if you eat too much red meat, it can produce a very bad smell. **6. Shows the condition of the intestinal bacteria** If you fart a lot, don't rush into thinking that you're not feeling well. In fact, lots of farting can be a sign of a healthier gut microbiome. It also signifies good gut health. That's because the foods that feed your microbiome and promote more efficient digestion are foods like cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts, according to the NPR. This green vegetable kicks your gut bacteria up to speed, which means better digestion, and more gas to produce. **7. Make relief** As explained earlier, when we can't fart we feel uncomfortable, even pain in the stomach. In fact, when we fart we feel very relieved. Especially when we hold on for too long or don't fart. @lenahot

[Source](https://unsplash.com/photos/_Zn_7FzoL1w) I would be speaking on three (3) of my healthy habits as the challenge requires. ###### **1. Eating fruits on a Daily basis:** I know the advantages of taking fruits especially after meal. Eating fruit helps to build our body resistance to illness and also keeps us from various kinds of cancers. Not forgetting heart diseases also, eating fruits improves the heart condition.

Except from my everyday Push-Ups, my work also is enough for an exercise. I work on elevators, so walking countless numbers of stairs everyday is what I go through.

Bath at least twice a day:** This is also one I don't joke with. I bath before sleep and after sleep, can also be said as in Morning after waking from bed and in the night before going to bed. I do this to remove the damaged cells still lying on the skin and keeping a fresh skin.

🥘 "CHEESY" TURMERIC QUINOA CASSEROLE 🥘

TURMERIC-QUINOA-CASSEROLE-11.jpg

A gloomy morning on my side of the world. In the last few days, we finally got some much-needed rain. Though the rainy season should be going towards the end, this year it never really started. Not good for all the rice farmers out here. Though we are no rice lovers, Cambodia, just like any other Asian country, really depends on rice. They have rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And many sweet treats or savory snacks are made with rice too. Not sure what’s going to happen if the harvest doesn’t turn out great. Though we might not have any issues with corona, poor rice harvest might lead to hunger and money issues for many families. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. How are you all holding up it one of the strangest years I have experienced so far? # CHEESY TURMERIC QUINOA CASSEROLE -------

TURMERIC-QUINOA-CASSEROLE-9.jpg

As you might have noticed I am going vegan cheese crazy. I am enjoying myself so much. Though I am not sure what I am enjoying more. The cheese-making or my bean-to-bar chocolate experiments. Both are equally fun and yum! And now that I have vegan cheeses again, casseroles are back on the menu! Perfect food for a drooly, grey day like this! If you don’t enjoy cooking as much as I do, making your own vegan cheese might be out of the question. Here in Cambodia, supermarkets are either non-existing or not as we know them in the West. Even though the greater population is Buddhist, veganism is not a thing here. If we want anything, we have to make it ourselves. Which is a good thing. With the vegan community growing worldwide, the food industry has jumped on the vegan hype. So if you prefer to buy your vegan cheeses, always make sure to check the labels. Vegan alternatives available on the market don’t always mean they are better for you. Many yucky ingredients like colorants, artificial flavors, and preservatives are often added to these mass-produced products. Always make sure to check the labels and if there are ingredients you can’t pronounce….. Stay away from the product! But hey enough chitchatting let’s get cooking! #### Vegan grateable cheddar cheese (Check out my recipe [HERE](https://hive.blog/hive-120078/@amy-goodrich/diy-grateable-vegan-cheddar-cheese)) ---------
