Freewrite Day 615 Champagne

In the weight loss biz, champagne is not something that normally comes up as being an issue for people on their journey to better health. If alcohol is a problem, it is more likely to be beer, regular wine, or mixed drinks. Champagne will normally be served during a special occasion such as New Year’s Eve, a wedding, a cruise, or when flying first class. If someone I am helping with weight loss were to ask me if they could drink it for that special occasion, I would say yes unless they have an actual problem with drinking. My general food advice is: - eat less crap - eat more nutrition But this does not mean you need to be perfect. One of the biggest issues in weight loss is the desire to fit in and be normal. If raising your glass in a toast will make you feel like one of the crowd, by all means, enjoy. You do not need to drink the whole thing and many people do not. My experience in the hospitality industry can tell you that you are getting the cheapest champagne to be found in most cases anyway. I might drink a small amount, but champagne is not my choice as a drink. As I get older, all wines and beer give me a bad hangover the next day even if I do not have much. I tried the famous Chang Beer in Thailand a regretted it the next day. Once was enough! On the other hand, I have had a few mixed drinks over the years lately and they seem to go down fine. I’m not sitting there draining the bottle, so once in a while is ok for me. It’s all about moderation. I try to eat and drink the healthiest and best quality I can find of anything and have variety in what I do consume. I want to stay at my thin size and feel good doing it. Deprivation and longing for food is not my path. I have not looked into this topic too much, but I did read a few years ago that most US beers and wines are full of pesticides and that you should get organic if you are going to drink them. At the time, I was just happy I did not drink much at all. One less thing to worry about :) My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest.
